well Basingstoke has my vote as i grew up there and know lots of places that would be great to meet although its probably changed ALOT in the 7 years since i left!!!!!

sweetheart · 04/09/2005 15:54

Bonkerz - I bet you'd hardly recognise it - it's just had a new town centre built with new shopping centre and cinema complex with lots of restaurants and bars!!

yeah, i visited at christmas last year and scared myself when i drove into town!! Ended up going back to my mums and catching the bus in cos it just seemed to confusing to find parking!! I went to the college in town and had lots of friends from Fleet! Small world!!
So?? What does everyone else think then??? Basingstoke does seem to be about an hour or two from everyone apart from Nemo (but she can relax why i drive!).
ANYONE?????

dramaqueen72 · 04/09/2005 22:20

I think its best if everyone decides what they want to do and tells me when it is, then last minute I can say yes or no. with such a huge family and so much going on theres no way i can prebook anything. so just tell me and i will do my best1

bonkerz · 05/09/2005 09:13

Ok well like i said, would be great if it was inland abit more as dont relish a 3 hour drive and then getting lost in Southampton! Any day after the 11th November is good for me but preferably beofre December. Can do any day of week as well and would prefer not a friday as have to be in Nottingham for DSD by 7pm!!

Nemo1977 · 05/09/2005 09:48

i dont mind where...obviously as others have said the actual meeting up depends purely on how i feel that week....dont want too late in nov as will be 38wks and hopeuflly about ready to be induced..lol

scully · 05/09/2005 10:14

Any location down that way suits me. I only finish work on 25/11, but if it was earlier than that I could possibly wangle something. 17/11 might be a possibility for me as I have class in Aldershot that morning that would finish at 11.45am.

bonkerz · 05/09/2005 11:04

17/11 is good for me! should we meet about 1pm so can find somewhere to eat?

sweetheart · 05/09/2005 14:47

17/11 is also good for me. Perhaps each person coming to the meet up should list there top 3 places of those mentioned already......

I think we've had

  1. Southampton
  2. Winchester
  3. Newbury
  4. Basingstoke
  5. Reading

Anymore???

Then we can count the votes to decide which place to meet at?!?!?!?! Does that sound like a good idea????

OK, well I'll start

  1. Basingstoke
  2. Reading
  3. Southampton

I will need to check how long it will take me from Aldershot to each place, no idea really, even though I live down this way

sweetheart · 05/09/2005 15:48

Scully

Aldershot to So'ton - approx 45mins to 1 hour
Aldershot to Winchester - just under 45 mins
Aldershot to Newbury - I would guess about 1/2 hour to 45 mins
Aldershot to Basingstoke - less than 1/2 hour
Aldershot to Reading - about half hour

OP posts:
bonkerz · 05/09/2005 17:06

1: Basingstoke
2: Newbury
3: Winchester (although its another of those places i get lost in easily!)

scully · 06/09/2005 09:37

SH, I thought you'd help with this
I guess then I don't mind where we go, with Southampton being bottom preference, being the furtherest away.

sweetheart · 06/09/2005 09:39

scully - I'm just a mind of useless info Glad to be of service.

so I guess your three would be

Basingstoke
Reading
Winchester

Based on distance?!?!?!?!?!

gosh this has moved on! dq, by chance recieved a postcard from Zara who's in S of France. As soon as she's back I'll sound her out about dates and I'll pop in and visit you when I'm in in So'ton if the dates are fine with you.
As to the gen meet up it doesn't matter a lot to me where/when. I'm still at work but have leave to take, so I'll do my best to show up wherever you all decide, work permitting.

ninah · 06/09/2005 09:57

Is 17th Nov confirmed date? there is NO WAY i would bring ds! I will ask dp to pick him up that day
I want to meet your children, but believe me you don't want to meet this one after a long journey!

ninah · 06/09/2005 09:57

esp in a restaurant!

sweetheart · 06/09/2005 10:09

I wouldn't be bringing my dd as she'd be at school but would love to meet others kids.

Don't know if you'd say 17/11 is confirmed but if everyone can make it - it's as good a date as any!!!

OP posts:
scully · 06/09/2005 11:51

I may bring dd, will see how I'm feeling

kangel · 06/09/2005 14:03

I wont be able to make it but will raise a glass of sparkling diet lemonade or coke on 17/11.

Be sure to have a great time and eat loads!!! The menu looks yum!!!!

sweetheart · 06/09/2005 14:16

menu - huh?? What menu?? Have I missed something?

OP posts:
kangel · 06/09/2005 15:16

SH - A long way down the thread is a post from Bonkers with a Xmas menu attached. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm Profiteroles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The details of your meet up have probably changed but I found it quite hard to get past the profiterole stage and concentrate on what other plans had been suggested.

sweetheart · 06/09/2005 15:19

duh - sorry kangel!!!

OP posts:
kangel · 06/09/2005 15:21

Know how you feel, am getting extreamly clumsy and my DP has totally given up on me doing anything right! Tee Hee

bonkerz · 06/09/2005 20:14

So do you think us pregnant ladies can make a final decision then or do we keep being cautious and end up deciding with 2 days to go??

NOVEMBER 17th 2005? Basingstoke?
Meal?
