We smacked our ovaries and sent them to Madame Bovary, and now we're in pig. MSDP ends here, just waiting for the MAD lot to join us.

CluckyKate · 08/09/2010 07:57

Well done Ski. Slight correction - Box's boy was born 7th Sept.....different to the due date she gave us but bang on the date on her notes Confused

SkiHorseWonAWean · 08/09/2010 08:08

kate My apologies - this is due to me not knowing what fucking day of the week it is, I thought yesterday was Monday. Blush

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 08/09/2010 08:40

Gah Ski me no like your labour predictions. I am still hoping to go to term and will do the bed rest thing if need be...This makes me last of the Oct-Nov people - except for Reggie and she can jump the queue if she likes :)

reggie nice to see you back! Though you and honey are making me feel a bit inadequate again. Must make a start on the shopping. Actually, baby room gets emptied today, which should create the space we need to start setting up for the new arrival. All the tips on here have been great. I must make a list.

honey - it is not the first time I have heard of people measuring over their dates - there have definitely been threads about it if you do a search. I think the amount of amniotic fluid definitely plays a role - not necessarily the size of the baby. It is something to check out, but not a very exact science I don't think, so don't worry. Hope you get to talk to your elusive midwife.

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 08/09/2010 08:49

Here's one of the threads honey: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/49/534043

Seems like for most people it just turned out to be a lot of fluid in the bump.

Probably they'll do a scan and rule out gestational diabetes (if they haven't already) and that should be that. My friend who recently had a little girl was also told she was big and had a very big head. She is a tiny little slip of a thing with a totally normal head who was six pounds when born. She's gorgeous and thriving, but hardly big!

SkiHorseWonAWean · 08/09/2010 08:58

honey You said it was a GP visit, not a mw or ob/gyn? BIG difference. Bear measured big all the way through and one sonographer actually managed to measure him smaller one week than she'd done the week before... Hmm I did not have a massive baby at all (5 11).

OkieCokie · 08/09/2010 09:14

Sorry honey I posted and went to bed without offering any "wise advice". Like what the others say it is not necessarily the baybee that is huge! It could be simply your indulgences on holiday! ha ha. No, in all seriousness I know you are worried. Like I said in my text, that hospital in that there Tooting will keep a very keen eye on you my lady. They will get to the bottom of it in no time, just be insistent (which I know you will be) and if they are at all concerned they will monitor you more closely. I personally don't think you will be having a 12 pounder...

Let us know how you get on with scan today x

Ski happy to take up the rear! However, I am secretly hoping this one will fly out in October. However, I don't want any lavender fields. I am happy with the drucks. If I can do without so be it but hey, not arsed either way, as long as it comes out with as little damage to the undercarriage the better.

SilverSky · 08/09/2010 09:41

okie I am TOTALLY with you on the reduced impact to undercarriage approach. Let's call it "Operation Preserve Fanjo".

I haz Dr check up this morning for 34 wks stage.

Who haz been for hozzie tour yet!!? I am worried I haven't !

Start NCT this week as well. Him Indoors secretly glad i think to finallybe getting involved. Also got Birthing Workshop this week!! Him Indoors thought it was funny to practice rubbing my shoulders and saying Push Push. I WILL be getting my own back. It's the law.

Anyone else feeling big pukey after eating? Should I be worried?

SkaterGrrrrl · 08/09/2010 10:08

Thanks for the congratulations ladies and huge high five for fellow birther Box.

Yesterday was spent in weepy breast engorgement hell but back on track today!

SkaterBabe is called Rosalind Elizabeth. Rosie/Rosa/Lindy/[insert affectionate diminutive here] for when she is a baby and Rosalind for when she is a high court judge Grin

Heel prick test for her today, poor lamb!

Hope other thread babies - both born and unborn - are doing well.

SkaterGrrrrl · 08/09/2010 10:14

At risk of sounding like a newbie, pliz to be directing me to the best thread for me to post my 'sneezing-her-out' birth story?

Just realised I havent said congratulations Cosmonaut! So thrilled for you. Aint it grand? :)

CUNextTuesday · 08/09/2010 10:20

here you go Skates

SilverSky · 08/09/2010 10:33

Lush name skates. Liking the high court judge career. A lot.

SkiHorseWonAWean · 08/09/2010 11:03

Skater Wow! What a really lovely versatile grown-up name! Grin Tbh I thought you were going to go with Coco/Suki/Rainbow. Blush

With your little girl growing up to be a high court judge how are you going to handle her education? I know you were all for Eton for your little boy to gain his prejudices... but where do little girls go? Wink

cokie Aaaah, I didn't think you were in to the drugs - maybe you'll be the lady with the water jug that has a 6' mosquito exclusion zone around it and suspicious lemon wedges floating...

FannyPriceless · 08/09/2010 11:06

Yay skatermum!Grin We use the high court judge test for name selection too! I luuurve her name.

I am happy to discuss tales of breast engorgement horror, but prob best in the spa that cunty linked you to. A tres comfy reclining chair is all set up ready and waiting for you.Wink

OkieCokie · 08/09/2010 12:39

Lovely name skates and looking forward to hearing all about it in the Spa.

Ski I had the whole lot last time, gas and air which was shit, epidural which was wonderful and even had pethidine but not until AFTER the birth but that was to chill me out a bit which as I was a bit of a mess. This time I am open minded. The plan is to go au natural but hey let's see huh - I have no preconceived ideas this time.

Silver I felt really sick last night but I think it was because I was hot and hungry. I do get nasty indigestion though now and have just learnt you can get gaviscon on prescription so it is free. Excellent.

reginaMonologue · 08/09/2010 13:35

moozer don't go crazy in the head about what size they think the baby is - if they were just doing a belly measurement then that can be WAY out and varies from person to person who is actually doing it. My neighbour was told she was heading for a 12lb whopper only to find out she was full of water, not baby (which turned out to be a 6lb job). The only semi-accurate way (and even this gets difficult the further along you are) is to get the scan done and see what results that produces. Other worldly advice, don't let the medical folk scare the shit out of you when they don't know the full story yet, put your karma headphones on a wait for all the info before some tw@t in a white coat scares the bejeasus out of you.

skichops did I owe you a slap for missing me off your septic Peg prediction list? I won't do it though cos I think your description for me is tres funny, I nearly wet myself over my oatyflakes this morning Wink.

switswots are you cacking your pants yet? I have already spoken to my belly beast and told him the exit don't open till you've gone forth and multiplied! I am at same stage as you with regard to nursery, slowly clearing it out this week ready for painting in the weeks to follow, my work load is petering out now so I have time to do stuff which is great!

PollyPoo · 08/09/2010 13:36

Hmmm... don't think our fave names would pass the High Court Judge test...

OkieCokie · 08/09/2010 14:06

Yes poo. It is constandly juming on my bladder too. Little tike!

reginaMonologue · 08/09/2010 15:43

poo and okie I get this too, though I've yet to figure out if it's a foot, a hand or a head. Who knows!

I also have the first horrible inkling of SPD creeping in... joy. Feels a bit like someone stabbing a needle up your foof then electrifying it. And don't get me started on the clicking, tingling and feeling like my girdle is about to fall to pieces.

Gosh, it's just all so glamorous!

reginaMonologue · 08/09/2010 15:47

Ach schitzer. Must drag myself out of the house. I need to find something to do to occupy myself for the 2 hours of torture tomorrow whilst waiting in a hospital reception area, starving myself and having needles pricked in me again too make sure I'm not turning into a lardy, pregnant and possibly diabetic high risk case statistic for the fat fascists.

moomops do let us know how you got on!

rollerbaby · 08/09/2010 16:14

Hello lassies, sorry to go all quiet on you has been an eventful 24 hours! Thanks for all being lovely and reassuring... the headline is that after scan this morning at St G's - his length and head (thank fuck) are normal sized, as is the amniotic fluid (was shitting myself when I read about that meaning prem baby and prolapse cord etc). However he has a big tum tum!!! Just like his mum. It could mean that I've got the diabetes thingy, and off to have that test in the morning now at 0930 - we can think of each other Reggie!. Feel really really guilty as I have not exactly held back in the cake/biscuit/chocolate department. And I've been have 1-3 glasses of wine/beer a week. Fuck he's not even born and I'm a bad mother.

The best bit was seeing his face in the scan today - all asleep and eyes closed. Was weeping like a girl - me not baby. He is also head down! Good boy. So anyway, we will see soon enough if there is a problem. If I do have it, probably not allowed to have a HB though and will need to be "managed". No more cream cakes for me on mat leave. Boo. Off to google it and scare myself silly.

We ended up going to the hossie last night as I freaked out a bit at the excess fluid possibility. I've been getting (TMI sorry) VERY wet pants and not in a good way. suddenly then put 2 and 2 together and thought maybe I'm leaking amnio fluid!! Anyway they checked it and apparently fine... fuck knows what it is then. It's really weird. The awful thing was that the check was surprisingly REALLY painful. I've never had a painful smear before (same technique with metal thingys and speculum) and I nearly yelled and jumped off the table. Don't know why it would hurt so much now, but christ there's a lot more that needs to go through there in a few weeks.

Question to the folks with babies - do they use the metal contraption every time they do a vag exam during labour/sweep before hand? Scary. Sorry will shut up now.

Skates love love love the name. Sadly our surname means that were we to use it, our daughter would sound like a gypsy. See t'tother place for reference! My granny was called Rosa and I have always thought it was beautiful.

Will catch up on all your posts now. xx

rollerbaby · 08/09/2010 16:17

also, heard some poor woman screaming blue murder in the delivery ward. Me and Mr Moo traumatised more by that than anything! Suddenly epidural in hossie good idea... Also some poor dad got wheeled out on a bed after not eating, resting and apparently having a fit. God, let that be a lesson for the dads!

PollyPoo · 08/09/2010 16:42

MooMa glad to hear baybee is all ok and lying in the correct position. Good luck with the test tomorrow. Step away from Dr Google - that way madness lies!

From my own vague recollections of labour, I think the midwife just stuck a hand up there, don't recall it hurting at all, honest!

ChoChoSan · 08/09/2010 16:43

Oh, HoneyMonster...don't worry, like me, you are planning one of those excellent painfree homebirths, aren't you? Grin

Skater just popped in to ask if your babybee is still BEAUTIFUL Smile

Okay - quick poll - when did you all first feel your first babybee move - I am 19.5 weeks and nothing yet, AND I have an anterior placenta, so might not feel it for a while !

Also, are you tall/short skinny/weighty etc.?

SkiHorseWonAWean · 08/09/2010 17:03

polly speaks wise words - if your mate told you they'd diagnosed x/y/z intolerance down to 24hrs solid googling you'd roll your eyes and call them a twat! V funny about fainting dad! Grin

I don't remember anything metallic in the foofoo, just a plethora of 12 year old gynaecologists' hands. :(

chocho 17+3(5?) - am heiffer with contradictory v strong abs. Confused

Backinthebox · 08/09/2010 17:07

Really quick one as I am supposed to be on bed rest and dropped my laptop a couple of weeks ago, knackering the screen.

I'm just going to say 'Yay! I won the sneeze on due date!' 4 hours and 14 minutes from wondering if I had the same tummy bug Clucky's daughter had given to DD until baybe shot out like a human cannon ball. Stung a bit but not painful. People who go on about childbirth being horrific and CS's being 'too posh to push' have never had a 42 hr labour and nasty EmCS first time. Believe me - the 4hr version is MUCH better! Only problem; humungous baby (just shy of 9lb) + horse riding pelvic floor + squirming baby in a hurry to get out = free ride in ambulance and trip to operating theatre to put the bits back together again. Ho hum.

Fill you all in on the rest later - byee!
