Here's the new thread for the September 2010 arrivals - though some babies have already come in July and August, and maybe more to come in August before we're done with this month...

Good luck Dixiebell! Hopefully your contractions started before you had to go back to hospital. Either way, here's hoping you have your little one by now!

Park your DS and your dog both sounds sweet :) Hope our dog takes as kindly to our little one. Generally she's totally disinterested in small people but we don't know if it will be different when the small person is invading her house...

I've been totally relaxing today :) Have had some irregular, quite painful period type pains and occasional BH, which I'm guessing is a good sign, but not getting excited about it quite yet.

Hope you're all having a fun Sunday :)

cathn · 03/10/2010 15:35

Just a quick post to let you know my daughter, Lydia Maria, arrived on 16 September (2 days early) weighing 6lb 5oz.

Things have been wonderful, exhausting and crazy for the last two weeks so haven't been following the posts but congratulations to everyone else who has given birth!

Debs75 · 03/10/2010 20:58

dixie it all sounds very exciting. my waters only went once on their own and contractions came pretty soon after, within 4 hours with baby arriving 4 hours after that.

Having a very lazy day today ass dc3 had a nightmare last night and would not settle. She woke lucy and i ended up with only 4 hours sleep. she fell asleep over tea and we put her in bed so fingers crossed she will sleep through.
we really need to move and give her her own room as we are not getting much sleep at all.

Hellew
Congrats cluds and cathn. Best of luck Dixie! All ok here today. Another incident free day so hopefully it was a once off and we can begin to relax. Bit better night sleep last night but awake since 6.30. Am so tired tho hard to function. DH back to work tomorrow and am dreading the juggle. bet I will be introducing bottle by end of the week! cant see how I can balance cluster feeding with supper and bedtime etc. any advice?
Must update on birth experience tomorrow as am typing one handed at the moment. MW said in 20 years she had never seen anyone laugh a baby out!

bellabelly · 04/10/2010 01:10

Congratulations to cluds and cathn :)

Am so tired at the mo, really need to find some energy from somewhere! The MW is coming tomorrow to sign us off if all is well so looking forward to that.

Think the girls (they'll be 3 weeks old tomorrow - time is flying by!) are going through a bit of a growth spurt and I can't keep up with how much milk they want! Am mainly expressing and bottlefeeding and just BFing at night or for top-ups but am finding it hard going now, feel like I am chasing my tail with pumping all the time. They are taking about 125ml each now and feeding 6 times a day. Any tips for boosting my supply gratefully received...

cinnamongreyhound · 04/10/2010 06:27

I don't know your reasons for expressing and bottle feeding bellabelly but I would say the best way to boost your supply is to put them on the breast. Babies are much more efficient at getting milk than pumps and the emptier the breast the more milk you produce. Make sure you're drinking enough too!

Luke was up at 1am and 15 mins ago for milk so pretty lucky, especially as I'm back to work today and my first customer arrives at 7.30. Will report back later how it all goes :)

mapletrees · 04/10/2010 09:43

Congratulations cathn. Good luck for today cinnamon.

MammyG Do you have a sling? I haven't tried yet but it's supposed to be possible to breastfeed with baby in the wrap-type ones, leaving you your hands. I've even heard of people able to feed while walking around town. There are lots of videos of different holds on youtube that you could try..

I've found a way to get Louis to burp. Grin I searched mumsnet for different techinques and found this thread. The last one by Themagicnumber gets an audible burb out of him about 60-70% of the time, much better than everything else I've tried.

Debs, Envy at your 'only 4 hours sleep'. That's still considered a good night here! (Though I do appriciate my waking hours must be hugely less demanding with only 1 DC to look after.) Louis sleeps ok until about midnight, going down for 1-2 hours between feeds, but then gets gradually harder to settle until the morning. I generally end up holding him (as he screams if I put him down) from about 3 or 4am until I finally give up trying to sleep at about 8am. Oh well, on the plus side, at least he's getting enough sleep, and it's still not the most tired I've ever been. [reminiscing- about-her-all-night-partying-past-face]

comixminx · 04/10/2010 09:57

I'm with mapletrees on 4 hours at a time being pretty good going! It's amazing what you can get used to / get by on.

Time for a new thread! As we still have some babies to come, should we still have one final one in the ante-natal topic, do people think? Or should we go straight to the post-natal topic?

OP posts:
cinnamongreyhound · 04/10/2010 13:16

Either way we can all follow you to where ever you start it comixminx!

Morning gone well and all 3 children sleeping, one more arriving at 1.30. Fingers crossed for the school run and rest of the afternoon!

I have never bottle fed a baby so maybe niave but what difference will introducing a bottle have MammyG? Surely you will still have to stop to feed Phoebe? Definately second the sling, have cooked dinner several times with Luke in mine- not feeding but it does get him off to sleep and keep my hands free. Have also stirred things I was already cooking and read DS1 a story while feeding him. At least you have one hand free when breastfeeding :)

bellabelly · 04/10/2010 17:13

Thanks cinnamon - thnk I am going to try expressing less and BFing more. Had a couple of different reasons for wanting to bottle-feed at least a few of the feeds each day but the main one was I thought it'd work out quicker so if pumping is taking up lots of my time then that's just silly. Just spoke to the MW and she reckons BFing produces some hormone wich is important for supply but pumping doesn't have the same effect. I didn't BF for long at all with my boys so this all feels quite new to me.

RunningGuerita · 04/10/2010 18:24

Hello,

Just to let you know that my baby girl arrived on Monday 27 Sept. Labour was fairly long with waters going at 5.30am on Sunday morning, contractions starting at 11am and established labour being reached around 3am on Monday morning. Got to full dilation by midday on Monday with the pool and ethonox only but after over 2hrs of pushing, it was clear someone wasn't right. Turns out her head was deflexed and she had not dropped sufficiently to even attempt an instrumental delivery. So she came out through the sunroof after all of that!!!! She is gorgeous and we are smitten.

Best wishes to all,
G -

bananastew · 04/10/2010 20:11

I'm thinking post natal comixminx just on the basis that we're now into October & the majority have arrived but like cinnamon says we'll follow wherever you start it Grin

Had a good day today. I've resigned myself to the fact that I have a wingy baby between 3 and 7! Nothing I do helps. Especially laptop throwing!

bellabelly · 04/10/2010 21:16

Grinbananastew - don't break your laptop, it won't improve your mood!!!

Congrats Running - hope you're recovering well from your CS. Does your little girl have a name yet?

bananastew · 04/10/2010 21:53

bellabelly indeed it won't. Infact, the thought of having no laptop would just make the mood worse. I mean, can you imagine, no MN or Facebook Shock How would I ever live?!

Congratulations Running

How many regulars are left to announce??

JodeyLea · 04/10/2010 22:28

Hello ladies

At last, my LO arrived safely into the world. After going into labour last Thursday, Harlyn James was delivered via the sunroof at 10:53pm on Friday 1st October weighing 8lbs 3. He is totally beautiful and we are so happy and overwhelmed.

I was all up for natural delivery but my body had other ideas. After going to hospital Thursday night being 3cm dilated, I spent the next 12 hours in agony with contractions coming fast and furious only to find my cervix hadn't dilated any further than 4cm. I was then transfered from birthing centre Sad to delivery suite where I was given an epidural and hooked up to the drip. A further 10 hours later, after being on the maximum dose of hormones, I was still only 4cm and therefore sent to theatre for a c-section.

We got home from hospital Sunday night and are settling in well. Me and DH are totally smitten with our precious bundle and I am loving being a mommy. BF on demand is......well, demanding but I'm coping at the moment though I'm sure in a couple of days I will be calling on some of your expertise and advice.

Hope you are all well x x x x

bellabelly · 04/10/2010 23:27

Congrats, JodeyLea! Fantastic news, though sorry to hear your delivery didn't go the way you'd wanted. Sounds like you are doing great now Smile.

Congratulations RunningGuerita and JodeyLea! Glad to hear you are both well.

I'm up for the first time tonight and am amazed!

zowina · 05/10/2010 13:19

Hi all, congratulations to all who have had their little ones by now.

Amelie was born 23rd September 7lb 10oz (4 days early). Long, slow labour to begin with but it hurried up nicely at the end. Just getting used to being a mum and surviving on little sleep but thrilled with our little daughter. x

sassy34264 · 05/10/2010 17:09

Congrats to jodylea cluds and runningguerita and anyone else i may have missed. I've just been looking at photo's of Jacob and Isobel and i can't believe how much they have changed. Their dad has been away for 3 weeks and is back this weekend and they have even changed since he went. He has missed Jacob's first proper smile too, which happened 20 mins after my birthday ended......i had been trying all day to get him to smile. Isobel hasn't smiled yet. She's probably saving it for him!

With regards to sleeping patterns, mine are getting more erratic. They feed at varies times now and hardly ever at the same time. What age would people suggest trying to get a routine going? My routine thus far has been, they feed when they want, they sleep when they want and i wash and change them when i want ~(or can be bothered) :o :o

cinnamongreyhound · 05/10/2010 17:42

I was told off by my health visitor with ds1 because he didn't have a bedtime by 12 weeks sassy34264 so we started a bedtime routine and it worked well. During the day I think it varies a lot depending on where you go and how many new things they experience, they get more or less tired and more or less hungry. DS1 had a feeding routine by about 4 months but he did that himself and I got him into a napping routine by 6 months as he was going to a childminder and I felt I had to. He naturally slept 10.30ish and 5ish for 30/40mins each, but I had to work hard at a mid-afternnon nap. I am not a big fan of trying to keep babies awake or making them wait for food because it hasn't been x amount of time since last feed!

sassy34264 · 05/10/2010 19:30

Neither am i cinnamon i think you should go with a newborns flow to a certain extent. Was just thinking though at what point people consider them not to be newborns and able to establish a routine. It's been 10 years since i last did this and i've forgot!

sassy34264 · 05/10/2010 19:36

By a certain extent......i mean some people have to go back to work and others (like myself) have to do school run, so babies have to fit in with that, but other than that i just go with their flow. Hope i'm making sense Confused

comixminx · 05/10/2010 19:39

Let's see if I can post this! We're in the post-natal topic here.
