Anyway, had my 12 week scan today and everything looks good. Baby really didn't want to cooperate though so it took an hour to get the thing finished!

First my bladder was too full. Went to the loo, came back and baby was now standing up so couldn't be measured. Sonographer poked my belly a lot to try and get the little rascal to move, no dice. So I got sent off for a walk while they scanned the next person.

Came back, baby in slightly better position so got the measurements done. EDD has stayed exactly the same. Baby still not in right position for nuchal though. More poking. I jump up and down a bit. Baby not having it. In the end the sonographer did an internal instead and managed to get all the measurements she needed. Says the nuchal looks good but I won't get my results until the blood tests come back in about 7 days.

thanks for starting the new board muser. I have had my scan but have to go back in three weeks to check that the gut is developing properly. They assured me taht what they saw is fairly normal and should be fine but a bit nerve wracking all the same. was fantastic to see the little blob waving its tiny little arm at me though!!

Well done Muser, on the new thread and the scan. My DD was a lazy little blighter in her scan as well and we had to go for a walk to wake her up. It's a pain having to wait for the results isn't it, but at least you have seen the little one.

sevenbubbles, I have had a few friends who have had to go back and they have all ended up fine, so fingers crossed for you. x

I am still watching the post like a hawk waiting for my dating scan to come through... time seems to be dragging.
On the plus side..I cooked tea last night and for the first time in ages actually enjoyed the food I had cooked. I have a night off cooking tonight as DH is making one of his lovely homemade curries (just hope I fancy eating it)

I've been worrying the last few weeks if it's not about the pregnancy then I'm worrying how I will cope with the sleepless nights when baby comes on top of finishing the final year of my training.

symptom wise I had a week of feeling quite sick but the last few days I've felt ok still exhausted all the time and weeing a lot at night.

have my booking in 11 days and scan 3 weeks is going so slowly! wish I hadn't found out so soon as it's really dragging.
As people are saying where there from I'm in london-wandsworth.

I seem to have regressed slightly to sick again. Humph, I thought that was over! Also I have all of a sudden become a tearful, emotional gibbering wreck. Much to DH's consternation

OMW another thread already... you are a real talkative lot. I am so tired I cant even bother with sitting at my desk and DH has been busy with his laptop for last week (not that I had any energy left)

Muser - Congrats on your scan, glad all went well.

I cant wait for my scan. DH booked off 4 days just to be at home because he hardly has time off anymore. Met up with some lovely friends on Sat and Sunday. Today we decided to send DD to childminder anyway because I was so tired and he had a few things he wanted to do. I fell asleep at 11am and woke up at 5:30pm. Cant believe it. I wasnt this tired with DD so hopefully it will all change soon because I am starting college next month and need some energy

Very exciting all these scans! I don't get a 12 week scan here (Yorkshire - anyone else up north?) but I'm going to book a private nuchal for a week or so.

I have to admit I still don't really feel like I'm having a baby so I guess I'm hoping the nuchal scan (assuming all is well) will make it feel a bit more real.

mendipgirl sorry it's taken me ages to post, thanks for your perspective on c section/VBAC, that really made a lot of sense. Have been thinking along those lines too. My only problem is I don't really have anyone to help out after this baby is born so I would be a bit stuck. Saying that however even if I do decide to try a VBAC there's absolutely no guarantee that it will happen anyway and I might end up with another emergency section (but without the benefits of a planned section - if that makes sense?!). muser and sfb thank you for your positive comments too!

Hope everyone is ok and hopefully starting to feel a bit better. I am finally getting there (i hope!). Life in general has seemed much easier over the last few days so that's good news! I have been having really weird dreams (not as strange as some of yours), but just really random. I dreamt I was in the Navy the other night

hi everyone hope u all ok couldnt wait till thursday for my scan at the epu so took myself to the epu today think they getting fed up of seeing me now didnt even invite me back lol but anyway scan was great see little heart beat got a little photo and been told to stop worrying easier said than done when do u stop worrying ????

1 week til scan-day!

Hi all,
I'm still a bit worried about the 12wk scan as I'm away on my real honeymoon (delayed) from week 11 to wk 13. The doctor said it will be tricky for her to ask for a scan for me specifically for the end of wk 10 because of how busy they are so she's recommended that I "cheat" and go to the antenatal clinic at the hospital myself and say I feel funny and am worried and can they scan. I'm just not good at blagging like that and also I'll have to take a day off work (people in work don't know yet) potentially for nothing.
Is the 12-week scan very important? I want to see a photo and see the baby but what happens if it's not possible and I have to wait until 20 weeks? Might they miss important developmental problems if there are any?

Just asking for advice as I notice that pushmepullyou says they don't have them in Yorkshire at 12 weeks.

Hi All

Well, we had nuchal fold scan today and not the results that we wanted. Baby has a nuchal measurement of 5mm- normal cut off is 3.5mm. Also, some kind of abdominal abruption that could be associated with chromosonal abnormalities (though could also be nothing to worry about and could also be something easily dealt with after birth). We have to wait for 3 days for the results of the bloods to give us a combined risk factor, but it is looking like probably high risk for Downs and possibly also Edwards Syndrome. It's also a marker for heart abnormalities, which of course we had with our first DD, so that is a real worry for us both. Needless to say we are very worried and there has been lots of tears on my part today. It just feels so unfair after everything we have already been through with our first pregnancy. Life is so fucking shit sometimes.

Anyway, we have a 3 day wait for our bloods, then a more detailed scan next Wed to look at the abdominal abruption. We then have to decide if we want to go for CVS or an amnio, and depending on the results of that decide whether we continue with the pregnancy. We're off camping tomorrow and it's meant to rain, but that pretty much reflects my mood at the moment. So, worrying news. Everything could still be fine, the odds are something like 10% of pregnancies with these markers go on to have issues- meaning that 90% don't, but when you have been the 1 in 5,000 to have a baby with hypoplastic left heart syndrome you know that 10% has to be someone. I'm gutted.

pushmepullyou poor you not getting a 12 week scan, i am in North somerset and we get 12 week and did when i lived in Suffolk with DS1.
Well, i hope everyone had good weekend and back to work or another long week of the summer holidays!!
Well, i thought i had finally got rid of the nausea at the weekend but no, back again after a fairly good couple of days, today and yesterday have been back to all day and evening again on the plus side i have managed to eat a fairly big meal over the weekend...well if you call a childrens size gammon, egg and chips at the pub big lol!!!

Kpigeon apparently the main value of the 12 weeks scan is for dating purposes, so if you know your dates you don't get offered one here. If I was you I would plead stomach pains/spotting or similar and get yourself scanned anyway though. I will getting a private nuchal scan myself.

superpenguin a doppler is a little amplifier type thing that you can put on your tummy and hear the baby's (or babies' ) heart beat. They're a topic of much contention, particularly on here as some people swear by them and others feel they cause more worry than reassurance, particularly early on when it can be hard to find the heartbeat. I found I was so paranoid with my first pregnancy - I had had a couple of mc and bleeding on and off until about 22 weeks - that it stopped me going mad!

Sorry to hear everyone's feeling sick again . I am having bad days and better days now, which makes a nice change from all bad days!

Hey all. Well I started bleeding last night. I did with the other two at about this stage (am 9 wks on Fri) but nowhere near as bad. DH has had to go into work but we will go off to the hospital when he gets back if I'm still feeling horrid. I've got some small niggly pains and the bleeding seems to have stopped so am not sure what to do really. With the other two it was slight spotting and then nothing and after I'd put my feet up I was OK. The problem is is that DS2 has Downs Syndrome and isn't walking at the moment so I have to lift him all the time. He also has lots of appointments during the week so I'm constantly lifting him in and out of the car so I can't really take it easy.

I feel really strange as this wasn't a planned pregnancy but I'll be absolutely devastated if it all goes wrong. We've also just started telling people :(

Sorry to off load on you all but I haven't got anyone around at the moment I can talk too. Anyway, have to go for now. Will let you know how it's going.

jeffily so sorry to hear that things are so difficult. It's good that you are getting away for a few days even though this will be weighing on your mind. I hope you have some sunshine whilst you're away and thinking of you when the results come through.
