Cossie You'll be OK, as boxer says there is absolutely tons of time between now and 42 weeks, Artie will arrive when he/she is good and ready. You never know, the sweep you had yesterday may have given things a small nudge in the right direction. My induction experience was not a pleasant one - and reading on the Childbirth boards a lot of them do seem to end up in emcs and/or a fast, frightening, painful labour. :( Of course the gory stories seem to be told more often than the happy ones. Wink Cry if you want to cry - if you can't cry when you're 173 weeks pregnant, when can you?

boxer 13 rugs for a Shitland? Can we all say "child replacement"? I am not going to pay 250 quid for a bloody rug which will be hanging off her in strips by mid-Feb.

CluckyKate · 27/08/2010 12:00

As Ski says you will be OK Cossie. I'd planned the Homebirth thing with DD, even had the birthpool set up in the dining room but t'was not to be Sad. Was induced at 12 days over - they said I could wait a few more days when I went in but, frankly, I'd had enough & wanted my baybee.

So, with the HB thwarted, & educated in the horrors of induction, I decided I would accept all pain relief available with gusto...well, why not eh? Actually it turned out alright - I only needed the gel to get things moving (with lots of walking & walking up & down stairs crab-style) & used Tens (was ace), Pethidine to help me sleep (what??? didn't work), G&A and insisted on an epidural at 2cm before they broke my waters - was lovely & pain-free after that. 1 hour later was ready to push but DD was B2B so was delivered by forceps.

Am planning HB again but this time going on Hippo course as I was v. fearful of the pain last time so need to get over that somehow. But, if I need an induction again it won't be the end of the world provided I get a beautiful healthy baby (if it's ugly I'm sending it back Smile)

So, I guess what I'm saying it don't be too worried or frightened of an induction - it's not ideal but you'll get through it and can join us all on the wondrous & joyful journey of motherhood

SilverSky · 27/08/2010 12:53

Awwwwwwwwwww cosworth cry dear girl cry. Scream, bawl, wail and eat chocolate. Will make you feel lots better. Honest. Trust me I am a hormonal wreck so I MUST know what I am talking about.

Nags old owner has got in touch and we are meeting up today. Wonder if hossy remembers her, bet he does she had him for donkeys.

Right, so far I have down two loads of washing, walked the dog albeit in a waddly manner ( me that is ), done some tidying though minor and I bet Him Indoors won't even notice! Have just stuffed lunch rounded off with choc cornflake crispy things and caramel shortbread munchies. Man I am SUCH a GANNET!

I is now off to Primarni quickly - I will be back!!!!

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 27/08/2010 15:39

Cossie you have loads of time! I am sending lots of labour vibes. I have A FEELING about this weekend. Hmmmm, yes! And otherwise next Thursday's sweep will be the biz!

I'm thinking of starting pregnancy yoga tomorrow. Yay. Will report back. It does depend on my getting up early enough - but who am I kidding. I'm chronically boring these days and do tend to be up and about early of a Saturday, sorting bills and dusting and such exciting stuff...:)

Am enjoying HB's thread on TTC time. Just waiting to leave the office now. Weekend ahoy. Hope you have a great one everybody.

SkiHorseWonAWean · 27/08/2010 15:45

cossie I hope she'll pop by to give more info, but I'm sure donttry went overdue by 17 days and she started with the homebirth as per her plan! :)

Muser · 27/08/2010 19:55

Hello PESHfolk.

Got home to my nuchal results today. 1 in 6200 chance = negatory. Hooray!

SilverSky · 27/08/2010 20:10

muse excellent news! Mine was nowhere near that! In fact I can't even remember what my stats were!

Who has had a strep b test???? Apparently the NHS are too tight frugal to fork out for it. So to do privately is £35 ish. Tis important to know if you haz it or not.

Medee · 27/08/2010 21:31

great news, Muse.

Cosmosis · 28/08/2010 10:47

silver Worth paying for IMO - which kind of flies in the face of me choosing not to have NF tests. Us hossie gals are either immune to everything or have everything - including, but not limited to: laminitis and a tick under the elbow. But seriously, there are some things for which you can never be prepared - but, Strep B is something simple but which can have big consequences. Worth knowing so you can have the antibiotics at the ready.

Congrats muser.

Cossie Another fb friend of mine is overdue too - she too is a proper PESH - at least you're not in the heat of Barcelona!

Cosmosis · 28/08/2010 11:07

yes that is true ski it could be worse!

Backinthebox · 28/08/2010 17:35

Had my first 'helloooooo, have you had a baby yet......?' phone call today. Fuck off! I'll tell you if I've had it! What do they think I'm going to do - hide it and pretend I've just had a big poo?

SilverSky · 28/08/2010 17:57

You should have said "ackshalleee I am in the middle of it now. Head is crowning - blood everywhere! Fancy coming round and helping to tidy up?"

I iz off eventing tmw' spectating that is. Not as exciting as competing oneself of course. Let's pray for good weather.

I am vegging out watching The Xtra Factor. Utter poop. Mind numbingly so. Perfect chill out material.

PerfectDromedary · 29/08/2010 09:50

Am back from holibobs, PESHies. How is everyone?

Came back to nuchal results which are fine - risk low, so one more worry crossed off list. Am starting to relax into the idea that I might actually be pregnant, which is all tres exciting.

Muser · 29/08/2010 10:15

Welcome back Drom and good news on the nuchal results. Hope your holiday was very fabulous.

My pregnancy tracker things keep telling me how marvellous I feel now I'm in the second trimester. Hmm, let me see. Still puking every day? Check. Still going to bed at 10pm? Check. Still full of The Rage? Check. Any sign of things being better than the first trimester? Well, I can eat a bit more now in between feeling sick.

PerfectDromedary · 29/08/2010 10:26

Holiday was luffly, thank you.

Pregnancy trackers are just sent to try us, clearly. I am blessed in that the nausea has gone, but cursed because am covered in spots on my chin but with really dry skin everywhere else. Not the world's worst trauma, but still annoying.

Muser · 29/08/2010 10:36

Aha, spots. I know about these. Do you use a facewash with sodium laureth/lauryl sulfate (SLSs) in it? If you do, get rid of it. If you have both spotty, oily and dry skin SLS is bad as it dries it out and encourages more oil production and your skin becomes more weird.

Oil cleansers are fabulous, or Ultrabland from Lush is fab. Liz Earle also good, Tesco do a Liz Earle rip off.

Once you have your friendly cleanser, you will also need some muslins. Big muslin, cut it into face sized bits. Put your cleanser of choice on. Soak your muslin in hot water. Place over your face and let it get all steamy. Then remove your cleanser using the muslin, with little circular motions. The muslin gives you a very gentle exfoliation and your skin will get all glowy and fab.

If you want to treat the spots and they're the red under the skin kind, get a disolvable aspirin and mix it with tiny drop of water to make a paste. Apply paste to spotty areas and leave to dry. The salycilic acid in the aspirin helps treat them. And never, ever squeeze.

Medee · 29/08/2010 11:58

I won't get my nuchal results until end of September when I have blood tests. Isn't it strange how different bits of the NHS doing things completely differently?

SkiHorseWonAWean · 29/08/2010 14:20

Have any of you PESHies been attacked by the plague of coldsores? I got those too to add to the beauty of gestational acne. Hmm

medee Did you ever apply for that Australian job? I was wondering if that was what tricked your body in to becoming diffed.

drom So glad you had a nice holiday and all is well with your test results.

muser Once I'd had the baby it was as though a fog had lifted and suddenly my brain came back. It'd like the entire pregnancy had been fuzzy.

For a lovely face mask/scrub which doesn't destroy your face and suits oil/spots/problems, I love Lush's Love Lettuce.

Medee · 29/08/2010 16:38

I did, gosh, that was ages ago! It turned out there was another internal candidate all lined up for it already, which was v annoying. Took several more months to get updiffed, so it wasn't that that did the trick!

Cosmosis · 29/08/2010 16:39

Afternoons. We have found lush new french patisserie style cafe in city centre, AIBU to see it as my duty to keep it open singlehandedly whilst on ML?

OP posts:
Muser · 29/08/2010 16:43

Absolutely not, tis the right and honourable thing to do Cosmo.

I have a cake in the oven right now. I am going to put real cream in it so will be forced to eat it all very quickly to avoid poisoning myself. It's a hard duty.

Medee · 29/08/2010 16:58

oh, yum, Cosmosis.

I made cupcakes yesterday (the black-bottom ones from Hummingbird) but they weren't very good, so have kept them rather than take them to our friends' house last night.

Cosmosis · 29/08/2010 17:00

Ooh and forgot to say, I had a G&T last night, on prescription from my dad and stepmother. First one I have had since I got pregnant, and it was fabulous.

Medee · 29/08/2010 17:01
