Yo December 2010 ladies, here we go - the mid-point of our pregnancies...and beyond!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Lavitabella · 16/07/2010 23:13

Well done Miffster love the title!

Someone was asking if anyone had been having any craving's Lately. I have been loving ice lollies, especially Del Monte Fruttini's and Refresher's ice lollies and the slightly less healthy Mint aero ice creams!

Miffster · 16/07/2010 23:27

I have a thing for cherries.. and dark cherry green and black eaten straight out the fridge/freezer. Odd as I am not normally bothered about choc unless it's day before TOTM.

I also got some disgusting bright green frozen popsicle from the corner shop the other day - when the weather was still hot - and adored it. I haven't eaten one since I was 10.

The great thing about summer when pregnant is we'll (hopefully) avoid all the 3rd trimester about to bust overheating, but can enjoy sticking our tummies out and not sucking them in, marvellous bouncy bazookas, swingy shiny hair, and endless excuses to eat icecream 'for the calcium'.

Heh.

can't believe i'm up this early on a saturday when the dc are still asleep. flaming ms is waking me up now

Miffster · 17/07/2010 08:09

Oh no, you STILL have ms? That's horrible. Fingers crossed it scarpers soon.

I wake up early every single day needing the loo, usually at 5.30am. I don't fall asleep til about 11.30pm either so I am getting very tired in the afternoons.

Just checking in on the new thread

CherylAnnTweedy · 17/07/2010 12:04

Marking my place, back later.

MrsSnaplegs · 17/07/2010 12:33

Ok for those of you that are fainting - as said this is normally because of low blood pressure but can also be because you are , overheated, tired or have low blood sugar so keep cool, restwhen you cn and snack regulalry. also you need to drink lots of fluids - here's the catch try not to drink too much "diet" low sugar drinks - they contain artificial sweetners which as well as being laxitives also are diuretics which means they make you pee more (which none of us want at the moment) but this in turn reduces your blood volume making you more susceptible to fainting. Try and drink full fat drinks where possible. Other issue with artificial sweetners is there is ow eveidence they don't help you lose weight as they confuse your body in the way it proceses sugars so again this can cause problems - if I can fnd a link to that research I will post it! Artificial sweetners in loads of things so try and be careful if you want to avoid them.

Sorry for the speling mistakes brain working faster than fingers

DuelingFanjo · 17/07/2010 13:07

Also marking my place

ebrookm · 17/07/2010 14:11

Popping in to say Happy Saturday!

Back to my week-end clean-a-thon...

LittleB · 17/07/2010 17:13

I'm really disappointed, ordered lots of lovely things from blooming marvellous online and have just received lots of individual e-mails detailing stuff that is now out stock. Think I've still got a couple of things coming but I was so excited about my bargains! Nearest shop is over an hours drive so won't be going.

CherylAnnTweedy · 17/07/2010 18:23

Oh how rubbish LittleB. And you too Mumatron, I really hope it goes very soon for you.

I remember having a discussion argument with one of my guests when I worked at the Harvester a few years back over diet drinks. Me and a lad were trying to convince his mum about the body being tricked but she was having none of it. Besides, anything with artificial sweeteners is just vile tasting!

Early night for us, we've swapped cars with my dad, and we'll be up bright eyed and bushy tailed tomorrow for a car boot sale. Fingers crossed the bump will make people pay more for our things. (Or at least I can blame pregnancy hormones when I get sroppy with anyone offering stupid money for something, he hee!)

MrsSnaplegs · 17/07/2010 18:36

this page

Old link but only looking quickly at the moment - bathtime here soon!

jobobpip08 · 17/07/2010 19:42

Oh same thing happened to me littleB - I cancelled as it wasn't such a bargain with only half an order when you add in the postage.

mumatron how horrible for you, mine lingered a while after 1st tri but nothing like that.

We've had a lovely day - DS early 6th birthday (its in the holidays so if we don't do it now we get about 5 people coming!) booked a 'sit on your bum and watch someone else do it' party at a jungle gym thing where they do it all for you, food, games, all you need to do is bring the cake. I was quite gutted that when we got home I thought 'right, cake!' but then I couldn't really face eating it. Not me at all . Have spent the rest of the afternoon trying to sneak out the crap old toys in a bin liner so there is room for the new stuff.

chooster good news on the results

Whats everyone else been up to?

MrsSnaplegs · 17/07/2010 20:26

Small person bathed and in bed asleep. DH out babysitting as he needs to earn back some credits in the babysitting circle before we move away!! So house to myself and the dog!
Spent the day sorting the garden for moving -cleared my "potting" area and threw a load of stuff in a bag for the tip (broken pots etc) dug up my potatoes - good result considering they all came from a couple of reduced price bags from B&Q, shame I can't say the same for my garlic this year - normaly do ok with it but pulled it already as clearly wasn't doing well, will keep the "wet" garlic to cook whole with lamb or something when I can start cooking again - anyoe else still really not feel like cooking - no MS now but the smell of cooking food really turns my stomach.
Off to a Landrover show tomorrow with DH! I try and support his "passion" as a thank you for being a SAHD - bit like a SAHM getting to go to the spa

We have decided on our girl name - still discussing boy name - just need scan to find out sex now!!
Sorted through all old baby stuff and "sexed" it so if a boy then all girl stuff will get rehomed and we will have to go shopping If a girl then we have it all from before. Just need a new moses basket and baby bath - think I may get a sling this time. Reasons to be a hoarder
Epic post sorry! right going to enjoy having the house and sofa to myself!

mumatron · 17/07/2010 20:56

ms has been a killer today. not ben sick much but not able to face eating

now i have a horrible stabbing pain low down on my right hand side. it's not there all the time, and i'm hoping that it's just the baby kicking around in there.

mrs i will be amazed if we ever decide on a name for this baby, we just cannot agree on anything.

early night for me i think. Hope i wake up feeling a bit better tomorrow.

night all.

93pjb · 17/07/2010 21:35

Hmm haven't heard anything from blooming marvellous about my order but I did like that blazer...

Looked at baby stuff but I just can't bring myself to buy anything yet - I'm not normally superstitious but not ready to talk about names yet either. 2 weeks to go to scan so perhaps I'll feel better about it after that. Dh can't come to the scan as he'll be in china that week so my mum is coming down from Scotland for it. Still tempted to take dd along as she is getting really into the whole baby thing now but she is only 2.5 so might just be a nightmare. Has anyone else taken lo to scan? Is it a really daft idea?

Chooster · 17/07/2010 21:53

I liked (and ordered!) that balzer too 93!!! I reckon they'll be few of us walking around in last minte BM bargains! I got a e-mail confirming my order...

I also got a few sleepsuits which I couldn't resist. You'd think as this is DS3 I'd have it all already but we've passed it all on already so need to start from scratch.

So sorry to hear about the sickness continuing mumatron - hope it lets up soon for you.

We're not thinking names too much but as we've named 3 DS's already we're struggling with a fourth one that we both like and goes with surname. ...

Lavitabella · 18/07/2010 00:54

I ordered the Blazer and some bits online too, hope they all come. Things were cheaper in the shop though. Well worth the visit if you have one close enough.

I have lots of boys names I like but am really stuck for girls names. So I'm not think about it too much unitl we've hopefully found out on the 27th. DP is Italian so we will probably pick Italian names.

Mumatron Hope you are felling better, I still struggle with nausea and am still sick occasionally. Much impoved from a month ago but it's fairly annoying. Had a 4 hour sleep this afternoon too. It's acid reflux I'm struggling with now

jobobpip08 · 18/07/2010 08:11

93pjb Not a daft idea but here is my experience! I took DS along to the 20 week scan last time, thinking he'd could get more involved, he was 3 then. He even said he WANTED to see the scan. When we got there however he only wanted to play with the toys in the waiting room which meant DH had to sit outside with him whilst the majority of the scanning was done - in other words I was alone and DH missed most of it!

Where we have scans done the're not too keen on children coming in for the anomoly part of the scan anyway. If I had my time again I wouldn't have bothered and then DH would have seen more . If you are nervous about the scan you also need to consider if you want someone in with you - if your Mum has to childmind in the waiting room then you won't be getting the support you want/need.

Lavita I get acid with every pregnancy - I use Tums. I tried the Gaviscon tablets but found they were like chewing lumps of dried toothpaste and I couldn't help but eat them looking like I was chewing a wasp! Tums are not quite as effective but I prefer them lol!

GreenGeekGirl · 18/07/2010 15:17

Uuurgh names are becoming a disaster! We had at least agreed a girls name but that's now out the window as we hadn't realised that the name has been in the top one or two names for the last five year! Having grown up with a stupidly common name I'm not keen to repeat.

Is anyone else getting nosebleeds? They seem to happen to me late in the evenings and I even woke up in the night with one! It's very odd as I never had them at all before I was pregnant.

CherylAnnTweedy · 18/07/2010 15:31

Yay! We have come back from the car boot sale in one piece, yet to count up our takings but I reckon about £60 better off!

DuelingFanjo · 18/07/2010 16:47

no nosebleeds here but there is sometimes blood when I blow my nose.

I have spent the morning dusting and vacuuming because of a throw-away comment my mum made yesterday about hygene!!! I know she didn't mean to offend but she implied I would need to get the house sorted before the baby comes 'for hygene reasons' - all comes from the fact that I always tell her how little I vacuum and dust because it's such a waste of time.

I do actually do some housework and considering the fact that I was raised from 6 months old until 5 in a 3 room house with no bathroom or toilet I think she's a fine one to talk.

No harm done but it made me wonder if my mum really thiks I am such a slattern!

GreenGeekGirl · 18/07/2010 18:09

I think over cleaning is far more dangerous around children, as a) many common cleaning products contain hormone-disrupting chemicals, which do all sorts of strange things (like interfering with the signals that tell us we're full) b) anti-bacterials remove helpful bacteria from your environment and c) if children never come into contact with germs their immune systems don't develop properly. Essentially the muckiest children tend to be the healthiest - we can all see the evidence of that and the science backs it up.

I wouldn't be surprised if household anti-bacterials were banned in our lifetimes, particularly as the over-use of them (like anti-biotics) creates superbugs, such as MRSA, that have evolved to withstand them. Good old fashioned soap on the other hand doesn't try to kill bacteria but washes it away so the buggers can't evolve.

By far the hardest part of living with my PILs at the moment are their outdated views on cleaning. I can't wait to live in a (relatively) chemical-free home again!

mumatron · 18/07/2010 18:22

i'm with ggg on the over cleaning. it's just not natural to disinfect everything.

today is the first time in ages i have not been sick, yay! still feel like crap and have had a huge headache but no sickness was great.

been out and about looking at all the things i want to buy after the scan. only 16 days to go! can't wait.

funeral to go to on thurs and i need to buy something to wear. i have nothing that fits anymore! very glad the sales are on.
