DH is dying

I don't even know what topic to put this in. My DH had a brain haemorrhage yesterday morning, the doctors have said it's not survivable. He's 60 years old and my best friend as well as my husband, we've been married for 23 years. I was sat at the bedside in ICU yesterday thinking that I wasn't going to post on mumsnet, even though like a lot of us I spend quite a bit of time here and feel like part of the community, but at 3 o'clock in the morning when you're all alone it seems like a good idea.
I got sent home from the hospital 'to try to get some sleep'.

I am so sorry.

I am up not due to a purring cat. Enjoy the comfort. My cat scratched at the door mat and woke me. I just had to clean a puddle of cat wee at 5 am. I would have liked a purring cat on my lap instead.

Often even if you have friends they can let you down at times like this. It is good your dd is nearby and your ds lives with you.

Flowers OP.

You sound like you have a lovely, strong, close marriage. Your DH knows he is deeply loved. No one can take that away.

I'm very sorry to read this Where. My husband died after a three year illness so I had some time to get my head round it, a sudden thing like this is just terrible.
My thoughts are with you and your family x

My best friend died last year of the same thing. I have no advice other than to take baby steps each day. Im so glad you have your children and your cat for comfort and support.

My cat became my personal little therapist - still is, take care I'll be thinking of you today x

Sorry you are going through this, Where. It is so hard to lose someone. Take it a minute at a time, then two, then back to one again, then five...wishing you strength.
