Our beautiful and brave DD3 lost her battle against a brain tumour on 2nd July. She was 6 years old. The end came very quickly, just 2 wks after we were told it had spread, though she had been ill for a few weeks, we were hoping it was just the chemo hitting her hard. So devastated, I am weeping all the time it seems, how can you help the other children cope when you can't do it yourself?
I am glad she died at home in our bed with me, my worst nightmare would have been a long slow decline in Birmingham Children's hospital, I am trying to comfort myself with this one thing. The grief seems unbearable otherwise.

I am so sorry for your loss.

The only thing I can say to my DS when he gets sad about his grandad dying is that he lives on in our hearts and our memories. Perhaps talk to your dc's about all Flora's wonderful qualities and ask them (depending how old they are) if they can take some of these and use them in their lives so that part of her will always be here.
Again, so sorry x

I'm so sorry that your family has had to face the worst thing possible.

You mentioned that you used to be on MN quite a bit in the past. I hope you feel happy to come back and post more if it's helpful to you. There are sadly other threads here from parents in your situation, and I know many people draw comfort from being able to post.

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 28/07/2012 18:34

I'm so very sorry x There really are no words that are 'right'. Hearing your very sad news touches all of our hearts, I'm pleased you felt you could come here & tell us and hopefully feel some support from us all. It's lovely that if Flora had to go, she did so in the comfort of your bed with you - feeling loved and comforted.

I don't know 'how' you learn to live again - you just do. Gradually, one minute at a time. Finally learning to live the new normal. You never get over it, you just learn to live alongside it. It's very early days my love, just hang in there, lean on anyone offering help and take it one day at a time xx

3girlies, I'm so so sorry for your loss. From one onco mum to another. We lost our beautiful, 9-year-old girl 3 weeks ago today to secondary infection following treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia.

My heart is breaking for you and your family and for Flora.
