Our fantastic DD3 has lost her battle.

Our beautiful and brave DD3 lost her battle against a brain tumour on 2nd July. She was 6 years old. The end came very quickly, just 2 wks after we were told it had spread, though she had been ill for a few weeks, we were hoping it was just the chemo hitting her hard. So devastated, I am weeping all the time it seems, how can you help the other children cope when you can't do it yourself?
I am glad she died at home in our bed with me, my worst nightmare would have been a long slow decline in Birmingham Children's hospital, I am trying to comfort myself with this one thing. The grief seems unbearable otherwise.

3girlie I'm so sorry you have to go through this. I cannot imagine the pain you and all those other mums who have lost their children must be feeling. It just seems so cruel and so wrong.

I've only been a mum myself for 6 months today and while I'm sitting here, holding DD so so tight, I actually can't hold back the tears. I think, it's something you cannot understand until you have your own child....the fear a mother feels of losing the most precious thing in her life and then, if the unthinkable does happen, the pain and sheer desperation.

I hope that you manage to find peace and will eventually manage to happily think of your beautiful Flora and the life she had, even if it was cut way too short.

Thinking of you and your family! X

goingmadinthecountry · 07/08/2012 01:49

What a beautiful littlle girl. I lost one of my twins at 24h many years ago but it really is absolutely nothing compared with losing a child you have that shared time with. 3girlies and expat I admire your strength so so much. It really is the most unfair horrible thing in the whole world. Like everyone else here I'm sure my 4 children (even though eldest is 18) are the centre of my life. You people are truly fantastic.
