Feeling very down, will I ever be have another baby?

Since my second mc I cant seem to dig myself out of this hole, I am crying every day, drinking too much (though not loads), obsessing and feeling depressed. The more I search for answers the bleaker the picture gets. The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gyneacologists have lots of info about recurrent miscarriage and I read on the site "A history of subfertility (conception delay greater than 12 months) is present in 25 -30% of women with recurrent miscarriage. It is frequently due to ovulatory disorders and confers a poor prognosis for future pregnancy outcome". Well, I took over 18 months to conceive after a m/c, then was diagnosed with ovulatory disorders and treated only to miscarry again.

So is that it? Should I give up having another baby? The thought breaks my heart.

Just popping in to see any news from Quacks. I hope this is a case of "no news is good news" and she is out celebrating somewhere.

NikNik I am being tested for a condition to do with antiphospholipid antibodies. It is known as APS (antiphospholipid syndrome) and is in the same group of conditions that inclue Lupus and Hughes Syndrome. These are all auto-immune conditions and can be treated by heparin and aspirin. When I saw my Consultant last week I asked if, in the meantime, I could take aspirin just in case I conceive before the test results and he indicated a small (junior) dose wouldnt do any harm. There is another thread where a Mumsnetter decides to take aspirin, I think it was Marina or Lewie (sp?). I'll try to find it for yuou.

Quackers - Just a quick log-on after work to see if any news! Hope you are ok.

quackers · 09/12/2003 18:17

Dam, missed you two, my computer shut down!

Well..... There was a heartbeat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had to ask her to check again for me as I didn't beleive her!! Good heartbeat and measures in at 7 weeks.

I was delighted! God knows where symptoms have gone, only v mild, but must be enough!

Thank you all for supporting me through what has been an incredibly tough week. I am forever endebted to you all.xxxxx
Hana, I heard aspirin on its own was not as effective as aspirin and heparin togther. Heparin has to be given as an injection yourself daily!! Urgh. Ah well, if it does the job. Lesley Regan reckons those with APA have 90% success with the 2 medicines combined!

Good luck, will come back after, got a couple of calls to make!!

Quackers - I am so so happy for you. You must be walking on air. Best of luck to you and all your family and I hope you have a well deserved rest over the next couple of days (and next 33 weeks). This great news has brought tears to my eyes.

Bunny2 - will start dieting thread tonight. I had put it off as it didn't seem right to set it up until we had quackers great news.

Hana - my dh isn't coming on Monday to my appointment as he has to look after dss. tbh he thought he'd be a spare part anyway and it never crossed my mind to have somebody else with me. We are going to sit down on Sunday night and prepare our pregnancy history and talk through the questions we want to raise such as why they didn't think it necessary to test last week last week, procedures, whether we can still ttc, etc.

Lazyeye - do we share same mil and mother - see further down thread re not being able to carry girls.

GRMUM · 09/12/2003 18:57

Very best wishes from me too quackers - that really is fantastic news. x

quackers · 09/12/2003 20:15

OH WOW, I don't know what to say. What a wonderful bunch you are. You have really really all kept me going SO much and I thank every day I still have you all to come and speak to.

I cry too when I see news, sometimes just feels like you really know the person and so much about them, yet have never met. I couldn't wait to get home and come and tell you as I knew you'd be delighted. Gosh I had 2or 3glasses at the weekend too!

Eyelash, bless you, go and start your diet thread now with Bunny. Don't think I'll be leaving this thread though. My friends are all here.
Eyelash, good luck Monday, be thinking of you. let us know how it goes!
Hana, you too. Just glad something is being done that might put some insight onto where things go wrong. The baby aspirin thing sounds very promising.
Once again Bunny, sorry for hijacking your thread, but it's been such a popular and caring one, long may it continue.
Eternally grateful - Quacks xxxxx
You'll see me pop up on every thread where someone is worried about fading symptoms, telling them my tale
