What was your/your LO's first word?

DS says mama, dada & nana, but doesn't know what they mean yet, so I'm counting that as babbling. Apparently mine was "readitbook" (a request said as one word).

So, I'm being nosey - What was your first word?
What did your baby/ies say first & how old were they?

Both my dd's have sn's,

Dd1 (aspergers) spoke her first word at 10 months and it was 'triangle' Grin.
Dd2 (Autistic) spoke her first word at 3 years old and it was 'cake'.

Eldest's first word was the dog's name.

Second born's first word was "sister".

So, both named the thing they adored most.

Marne - triangle at 10 months?! Wow, that's a tough word! I like the taste of your other daughter's first word better though... Wink

DS1: Yummy - 1 year-ish and was his only word for a while.
DD1: Pocoyo - I can't remember Blush it was well before 1.
DD2: Ididit as one word with triumphant arms over her head. About 9-10 monthish. Still her favourite word/phrase at 2 years.

I'm horrible at remember the ages they've done stuff.

'pizza' at about 1 because she wanted her dads pizza!

We count "wack wack" (as in quack quack) as DD's first words, she was about 14/15 months. After that, Daddy, used for most people.

Her first sentence, which my friends love to tell me was so terribly middle class, was "houmous on top" (as in she'd spilt some on her top).

14month old says mama and dadda and when I say what does a sheep do she says baaa, that's it so far!! Lots of sentences in total jibberish all the time though!!

After mama/dada, it was 'cow' at about 9-10ish months. She used to say it in this incredibly deep voice which sounded hilarious.

hello (or more like ey-oh) at 12 months still waiting to see what else she comes up with. For the last 2 days shes made saying lelelelelelele all day.

my first word was 'lamb' as in 'Mary had a little...'and I said 'am'.I was apparently 10 months old.
My ds's first word was 'gadin'-garden and dd's was 'eet'bix
ds was 9 months and dd 10 mnths.
dgs1 said tat[cat]at 9 months and his little brother said tacta [tractor]at the same age.

After "dad", DS1's first word was "durd" ("bird") at about 10 months. And then repeated every time he saw a bird (with accompanying pointing and shrieks of excitement) for the next 6 months or so.

DD 'Dad' about 8 months
DS late talker - 'Mum' about 2 years closely followed by 'More'. He was always hungry so could say 'more Mum' for a long while before he uttered another word!

My dniece's first word was, "happy", well more like "appy" when the whole family was together having a party.

We were all really "'appy" after that Grin

We've only really got sounds at 11.5 months. Lots of dada, rarara, yaya, ayooo etc, but nothing specific. Its all just random babble. Nothing thats attached to a thing.

DS1 Daddy (which actually meant me or my husband..but no, he doesn't have 2 Daddies..it went on for ages. I even posted on MN as I was so concerned. Seems like another world now)

DS1 - pappa (Italian for food, courtesy of his Italian grandparents) at one year

DS said 'luz' (light) at about 14 months then 2 days later learnt chupa (dummy).
