Crazy names you considered?

During my pregnancy, my partner & I got rather excited about naming our now four-month-old twins. We ended up naming them Cristiano & Nahlia but we did consider Nathaneri & Raya, Kelis & Jamesison, & even Thelma & Caddi.

Don't judge me, I was hormonal! Given the chance, I'd have named them Fork & Knife! :-)

Just wondered what crazy/funny/embarrassing names you considered for your little one?

Have a list for phantom babies:
Boys: Tristan, Sebastian (nn Bash), Crispin (nn Crispie (for a baby) Spin (for a teenager)),
Girls: Dolly Dagger (love it!), Sheola, Tabitha, Poppy.
My DP has vetoed all of them, but as far as I'm concerned: If it's coming out of me, I get to name it.

I love Aurelia (could never use it as DD's best friend is Aurelia and it would get confusing) and I don't think it sounds much at all like Areola.

singinintherain · 30/06/2010 21:03

I know a baby called Monty. Other babies I have encountered around these parts: Diggory, Manon, Harper.... ah North London....

Sheherazade pron: Shu-hera-zard.

singinintherain · 30/06/2010 21:05

shu as in shuh not shoe. Argh, hard to write phonetically!

poppymouse · 30/06/2010 21:49

I went to school with a Scheherezad and I mentioned her last night for the first time in about 25 years. Great name.

We would have loved to have had the guts to use Hunter for a boy. We seriously wanted Alexander (SIL got there first), middle name could have been Commander. Alexander Commander. There goes a boy and a half. And our last name beings with a C, it would have had a hell of a ring to it.

DP and I liked Calypso but the older kids hated it! It got a family veto. DSD actually picked DD's name which was a great choice and really suits her.

I went to school with a boy named Raven - he had black hair and brown eyes and it really suited him. His older brother was named Robin, younger brother named Heron. I think there may have been a sister named Wren (not sure).

JaynieB · 01/07/2010 00:05

Nobody believes me when I tell them I went to school with a boy called Tarquin Farquar.

CarmenSanDiego · 01/07/2010 07:01

I used to go out with a guy called Raven. He ended up marrying a woman ALSO called Raven. It didn't last too long though.

ParanoidAtAllTimes · 01/07/2010 07:41

Sula (mixture of our mothers' names aka Peter and Jordan)

tootsieroll · 01/07/2010 10:34

My neighbour's children are called Keen (DS) and Dior (DD). I've also heard of people naming their children Cleopatra, Delilah or Beckham. Add on a traditional Chinese surname (I'm in Singapore) like Wong or Lee, and your head starts spinning.

JuJusDad · 01/07/2010 10:49

Ex was convinced it would be a boy, his name was going to be Felix Drake Ying Long (double barreled surname)

So when baby girl came out, it took a few weeks to decide on her name. She has a 4 syllable first name, two syllable Chinese name and still has the double barreled surname.

In addition to all that, (if it weren't enough) she very nearly also had the name Solestra.

I was a bit excited (my PFB and all that), and the sun came out on the day she was born. Yeah, I know...

paola1 · 01/07/2010 11:43

The couple before us at the Register Office named their DD Armani Rose. For a boy I like a a very old name from Tuscany, Lapo.

5inthebed · 01/07/2010 11:52

Halrequin Blue Mackenzie for a boy . We were at work trying to think of chav names (some celeb had just had a baby with a weird name) and I said that name, and it kind of grew on me. SO glad I didn't use it.

KnitterNotTwitter · 01/07/2010 13:30

My BF gave her daughter the middle name Aphrodite - I think her husband tricked her into it while she was all hormonal

lonelyonly · 02/07/2010 13:24

Azabeth if ds had have been a girl .

kreecherlivesupstairs · 03/07/2010 11:10

Lydia was my choice for DD, DH said it was too thin and too posh. I wanted ZamZam because she was born in Oman but DH pointed out that while it was fine in a country that recognised it, when (if) we returned to the UK it would be shortened to Zaaaaaaaam. He quite fancied Trinity. why?. I was nearly Willhelmina so thank goodness my sainted mother put her foot down.

meadowlarks · 05/07/2010 14:21

I love Huxley, and Hux is a cute NN. I still love the name Floyd for some reason, but I've dropped Sidney, Clarence, Leander and Jem (not with Atticus, anyway). Juniper was my top girl's name for ages but I got put off by the vodka connection.

meadowlarks · 05/07/2010 14:34

Oh, and having just come back from Crete I'm on a bit of a Greek name phase. Lefteris plus English surname and pale skin =

Fontella · 05/07/2010 14:47

I'm Welsh (but living in England) and wanted to call my two Geraint and Angharad. ExP wasn't having any of it - so we ended up with Joshua and Eleanor.

When I tell DC now they look at me in horror, as if to say - you wouldn't. I would!

meadowlarks · 05/07/2010 18:33

I know someone called Emerald Dangerfield. Out of sheer "woahh" factor I really did consider first name Emerald middle name Dangerfield last name similar to Bloom. I still think it would have been awesome.

My track record for boy's names has been appalling - Larkin, More, Marlowe, Farrow, Theoden, Astor, Bamber...the list goes on.

Rachiesparrow · 06/07/2010 07:46

JaynieB - I LOVE Calypso. That was on my list but DH said no. mind you he wanted to put Petronella on the list. FFS.

He also wanted to call her Breeze. Breeze! Jesus.
