Crazy names you considered?

During my pregnancy, my partner & I got rather excited about naming our now four-month-old twins. We ended up naming them Cristiano & Nahlia but we did consider Nathaneri & Raya, Kelis & Jamesison, & even Thelma & Caddi.

Don't judge me, I was hormonal! Given the chance, I'd have named them Fork & Knife! :-)

Just wondered what crazy/funny/embarrassing names you considered for your little one?

Zacharias for a boy

Serendipity for a girl

LaDiDaDi · 29/06/2010 11:46

Velvet

Don't think that any of the names I had for a boy were crazy.

RussAbbotDancer · 29/06/2010 11:55

Estra for a girl.

Kipp for a boy.

upahill · 29/06/2010 11:55

Misty in Blue

I have no idea why. DH vetoed that one straight away.

luciemule · 29/06/2010 11:56

Sher-her-azad

You do know boodle that Sherherazade chopped off the heads of all his wives?!!!

NicknameTaken · 29/06/2010 11:57

Ex lobbied hard for Nimrod for the DS we were expecting. Luckily it turned out to be a surprise DD...

LightShinesInTheDarkness · 29/06/2010 12:01

Clover for a girl
Obadiah for a boy

Jeez

nappyzoneloveschinesefood · 29/06/2010 12:04

I was desperate to call my ds Spike through pregnancy - thankfully dh overruled me though i still like it.

Threelittleducks · 29/06/2010 12:08

I know someone who called their girls Atlanta and Savannah....last name Boag. Classy.

Brothers called One and Two Todd (seriously!!) they produced valid I.D to my husband at work in order to sell stuff to his company.

And when I worked in a pub a woman told me how she had endured long labour, was in hospital for two weeks and then her husband went and registered the name of the little girl.
Bruse.

Yes that would be Bruce with an S!!!
Apparently she has never forgiven him (but was laughing about it rather drunkenly with said husband at the time, telling me how her daughter is still angry about it and prefers to use her middle name. (Never found out what this was, but can presume it's nicer than Bruse!)

I fancied Dante as a middle name once. Otherwise I am pretty sensible I'm afraid.....

TheBossofMe · 29/06/2010 12:14

luciemule - you must be thinking of someone else - Sheherezade was the heroine of the Arabian Nights, ie the one who told a new story every night to save herself from being killed.

NicknameTaken · 29/06/2010 12:14

Lucie, I thought Sheherezade was the wife who escaped beheading by telling such wonderful tales?

I quite like Clover, Lightshines. No stranger than Holly.

NicknameTaken · 29/06/2010 12:15

oops, x post. Great minds, eh?

luciemule · 29/06/2010 12:16

Whoops sorry - I only thought I knew because DD is doing this play at school next week and I was going by her description to me of what it's about! So it's the wife who didn't get her head chopped off by telling him stories then? Aha. Must tell DD to actually listen at school!

TastesLikePanda · 29/06/2010 12:18

I was almost called Cecelia - dodged a bullet there methinks (apologies to any cecelias out there - it's a nice name but it would not suit me AT ALL)
I hankered after having twin girls and calling them Chastity and Liberty - DH vetoed that with bells on!
I still want a daughter I can call Katy Scarlett after GWTW...

gorionine · 29/06/2010 12:20

"You do know boodle that Sherherazade chopped off the heads of all his wives?!!! "

I think yo got it wrong, Sheherazade (pronousced Sharazad - my niece's name-) was the wife of the horrible man who shopped his wifes heads of. She escaped that fate by twelling him stories known today as 1001 Arabian Night Stories

bintofbohemia · 29/06/2010 12:21

I wanted to call DS1 Indiana so he'd grow up to be an hot archaeologist. Also discussed Hendrix and Morten. Went with none of the above.

gorionine · 29/06/2010 12:22

And I deserve my head to be shopped off after so many typos!

Jaybird37 · 29/06/2010 12:23

I have twins called Tom and Joe, but my siblings named their children Hugo, Cosmo, Galileo, Zeus and Jyoti.

When my dad died one of my brother's friends threatened to send the newspaper announcement to Pseud's Corner

superv1xen · 29/06/2010 12:28

Lol.

storm. or raven

for my DS.

cringe.

PanicMode · 29/06/2010 12:35

There is a Spike in my son's school (and it's not a NN), and I also know someone who has a DS called Nimrod (Roddy)!

I don't think we had anything too outlandish on our baby name list - I think Monty was the most 'crazy'. I still really like it and don't mind the dog/animal allusions as we have a Rufus and DC4 was nearly either Jasper or Felix

fuzzypicklehead · 29/06/2010 12:39

Many of these would have made my shortlist. Actually, if I was having any more, I would consider quite a few of these...

My sister, who isn't having kids, was desperate for one of her siblings to give a child "danger" for a middle name. Just so they could say: "Danger? Danger is my middle name..."

luciemule · 29/06/2010 12:39

Merlin was right at the top of list for DS but DH, although he also lvoed it, thought people would take the piss so we discarded that one. I still love it now though but we've stopped at two and won't be having more.

Ds was nearly Indiana or Harrison (Dh has a Harrison Ford fascination)

RobynLou · 29/06/2010 12:45

DD would've been Ace if she were a boy....I'm glad now she was a girl!!!
