Crazy names you considered?

During my pregnancy, my partner & I got rather excited about naming our now four-month-old twins. We ended up naming them Cristiano & Nahlia but we did consider Nathaneri & Raya, Kelis & Jamesison, & even Thelma & Caddi.

Don't judge me, I was hormonal! Given the chance, I'd have named them Fork & Knife! :-)

Just wondered what crazy/funny/embarrassing names you considered for your little one?

shieldbug when I was at school my friend's brother had two friends called Tarquin and Peregrine - well, they had to be mates didn't they, with names like those!!!

at Gandalf Nigel

toccatanfudge · 29/06/2010 14:53

although I rather like the name Lucinda as well..........but not sure how well Alexis Lucinda really goes

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 29/06/2010 14:53

minouminou, FIL wanted to name DH Tostig but was overruled by MIL!

DS wanted to name DD (at various points) Chair, Ladder, Cow or Mummy. Oh, and Lesley. In fact he told everyone very convincingly that we were naming her Lesley...

hollyhobbie · 29/06/2010 14:53

Had DD been a boy, she would have been Bran.

Had DS been a girl, he would have been Coco.

I'm pretty happy we didn't use Bran, but I do still feel a twinge that I won't have a Coco (though DH did want to spell it Cocoa!)

Had we had a boy, he would be called Fox. I love it as does DH, but we have girls, much to Grandparent's relief. One has quite n unusual name, the other is Ruby...

I absolutely LOVE Wolfie / Wolfgang.

Butkin · 29/06/2010 15:07

If we'd had a boy we'd have called him Leander. In hindsight probably for the best that we had DD!

corlan · 29/06/2010 15:07

I was fully intending to call DD1 Boudicea - but came to my senses just before the birth.
I saw myself calling her 'Bo' or 'Bodie' for short!

mrspir8 · 29/06/2010 15:13

Raeden

But my best mate said it sounded like antkiller.

Alaria

which she said sounded like malaria

SuperAmoo · 29/06/2010 15:42

DD2 was nearly Miffy. Some of my sisters still call her Miffy. We called her Ava in the end!

KnitterNotTwitter · 29/06/2010 15:50

The names I've had picked out for any children FOREVER were:

Lily Althea
Mahalia Blue
Amber Rose

Sadly DH is more in the Elizabeth, Victoria, Katherine school of thought....sigh... but he's probably right...

streakybacon · 29/06/2010 15:50

My friend has a Clover, 10mth. She is beautiful and has the most wonderful temperament. I loves her

wheelsonthebus · 29/06/2010 15:53

willow

Littlepurpleprincess · 29/06/2010 15:57

If I was a boy I would have been Kieth (don't know if I spelled that right).

If DS was a girl we would have called her Toni, but I've gone right off that now.

DS was very nearly Stacey. Which I still love but the men in my family are very much 'manly men' and could not accept it(men should watch football and drink larger, and have a short back and sides haircuts, don'tcha know?) and they would make bad jokes all the time. I didn't think it was fair on DS but part of me wishes I had told my family to shove it!

pagwatch · 29/06/2010 15:59

Emanuelle

DH just did this for about a week and kept looking at me and shaking his head sorrowfully as if he was trying to figure why he had ever married me.

Trouble was it then meant that when my hormones calmed and I wanted the perfectly lovely Geniveve he was able to use Emanuelle against me

muminthecity · 29/06/2010 16:06

I wanted Jaden for a boy. I still love the name but it's too popular now and seems to spark a negative reaction in people (especially mumsnetters!)

laurielou · 29/06/2010 16:18

My current favourite name is Mia, but I'd always liked Kate as a middle name

I think it would be character building, but the boyf is having none of it.

alle01 · 29/06/2010 16:21

i wanted to call him newton but my dh didn't let me, still think is cute

TheThingUpstairs · 29/06/2010 16:24

Really wanted Rainbow as name.
still like it now, but it doesn't sound good with our surname - Richardson!

PfftTheMagicDragon · 29/06/2010 16:32

Persephone - girl
Marion - boy

Heidi28 · 29/06/2010 17:25

Loved the name Evangeline and all its shortened variations for a girl.

Kaal (pronounced Carl) for a boy!

JenniferCanesten · 29/06/2010 17:26

I privately quite like the Russian name Anatoly for a boy, but a bit close to Natalie for the UK.

We decided soon-to-be-ds1's name after the 20 week scan as it was the only one we could agree on. But I still think it would be funny to have a son called Heathen. Wouldn't get away with pretending to be religious so he could go to some RC school, or whatever people do then! Maybe Heathen Danger!

JenniferCanesten · 29/06/2010 17:27

ffs. Heathen Danger

StainedGlass · 29/06/2010 17:32

I named DS2 that odd name i liked in pregnancy. I still love it and fortunately so does he. He usually gets a good response (it is a good strong name) or . Even the naysayers in the family can't imagine him as anything else now.

So go for it if you want to, i say ... (and no i'm not letting on).

Cloudbase · 29/06/2010 17:34

My ExH wanted to call DD Lucretia , but I put my foot down sharpish. Otherwise it was going to be Evangeline, Juniper, Electra or Jezebel.

In the end, the only one we could agree on was Ophelia-Rose

LittleNutTree · 29/06/2010 18:02

We thought of Cadeau for DD - it's the French word for 'gift', but so glad we decided against it. Could just imagine our families broad regional accents making it sound terrible - not like the beautiful French pronunciation at all!!
