Dreadful

Waterduck · 05/03/2010 11:05

DOn't mind it too much, there are worse names out there...!

hobbgoblin · 05/03/2010 11:10

Yes I thought eBay.

I think it is a nothingy name. It would just drift off the end of your sentence due to lack of consonants and hard sounds. Hi I'm baaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy.......... zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Sunshinemummy · 05/03/2010 11:18

I love Bay - it's one of my faves and DD was almost called it.

TheYearOfTheCat · 05/03/2010 11:19

Pinky Gorgeous sounds like a euphemism for a fanjo.

DrNortherner · 05/03/2010 11:21

TRy saying it in a north east accent with flat vowells and it doesn't sound pretty.....

Waterduck · 05/03/2010 11:23

DrNortherner...bit like Robin Hood's...?!!

DrNortherner · 05/03/2010 11:34

Yes!! Just like Robin Hoods BBaaaaaaaay. We empahise the AAAAAA rather that the Y. Am I making sense?

Waterduck · 05/03/2010 11:36

oh yes!! Can't bea' tha' yokshur accent!!

Caitni · 05/03/2010 18:30

I know a woman in her 90s who is called Bay...as a nickname meaning baby (she was the baby of her family). Her real name is Elizabeth (I think).

KittyBigglesworth · 05/03/2010 20:45

I don't mind it at all. I think of the herb too. If the spices saffron and ginger can be used as names, then why not Bay? Dare to arouse opinion!

pippylongstockings · 05/03/2010 21:09

I know a little boy called Baye so I guess I would think of it as a boys name.

But I really loved Percy as a girls name (had 2 boys so didn't use it)so.....

Slambang · 05/03/2010 21:16

lots of potential for rude jokes - parking bays/ loading bays?

ellesabe · 07/03/2010 16:38

It depends where you live - Bay would sound awful in a brummy accent!

gyp5y · 07/03/2010 17:26

I quite like it. When I first read the op it sounded pleasant enough and now it's really growing (no pun) on me. It made me think of Bay trees and as far as plant names go it's one of the better ones imvho. It's also phonetic which is always a plus!

onebadbaby · 07/03/2010 17:33

I love rose.

Claudia Rose is the name of my fantasy baby.

FairyTrucker · 07/03/2010 17:40

I think of inlets and the sea and sand. I like it.

FairyTrucker · 07/03/2010 17:41

Oh I agree pinky gorgeous is like a fanjoy nick name. terrible terrible

FanjolinaJolie · 08/03/2010 12:48

I'd assume shortened from 'Bailey' which I'd say is a boy's name.

Have you considered Bea/Beatrice?

minouminou · 08/03/2010 15:04

It's wimpy and abbreviated-sounding.
Nah.
Or should that be .....nay.

Lonnie · 08/03/2010 19:21

I think most will ask is that short for Bailey?

Heebiejeebie · 09/03/2010 02:53

I think Bay Garnett, super-cool stylist, lovely name, the baying hounds association would be my only concern.

flimflammum · 09/03/2010 03:52

There is also new-agey guru Brandon Bays
