That our son will be called Bailey!

He will. Not. Stop. Going. On about it.

He's agreed to read the responses to this thread so please fire away (hopefully not too many of you will like it!).

People will thin he was conceived after a night drinking it?

I like it, but not sure I'd use it as a boys name, although I know it is unisex.

jellybeans · 06/02/2010 22:12

It's OK but abit up and coming, abit 'surnamey' and may well get 'bay' for short. Reminds me of party of five.

BitOfFun · 06/02/2010 22:13

Hmm. Not keen. Sounds like an American surname-type thing.

Plus the drink gives me heartburn.

NotAnOtter · 06/02/2010 22:13

if your surname is Jackson then I know a Bailey Jackson from Illinois! He will be 40 now though!

Sallypuss · 06/02/2010 22:14

A friend of mine has a dog by the same name....

malovitt · 06/02/2010 22:14

It's a popular dog's name round these parts...

weegiemum · 06/02/2010 22:15

Dog's name. (imho)

momofnearly2 · 06/02/2010 22:15

It's really really not a very nice name.

cece · 06/02/2010 22:16

Bailey is awful name imho. Also a girl's drink and a dogs name.

hf128219 · 06/02/2010 22:21

I really like it. Good choice.

Heated · 06/02/2010 22:24

A friend of dh's has given his dd the name Bailey-Jane (yes, BJ)

LaDiDaDi · 06/02/2010 22:34

No, no, no.

mrschigur · 06/02/2010 22:39

Not good.

Doesn't some sleb have a child called Bailey? Like Davinia McColl or Kirsty Allsopp. People will think you are copying.

That or what 5inthebed said.

DuelingFanjo · 06/02/2010 22:41

I've always thought it sounds more like a girls name.

mrschigur · 06/02/2010 22:43

Just did the sleb check.

Stella McCartney has a girl called Bailey.

Kirsty Allsop has a boy called Bay Atlas

kalo12 · 06/02/2010 22:45

its common and its a girl's name,

cyteen · 06/02/2010 22:46

It doesn't particularly offend me either way but it does sound a lot like Bayleaf, so if you do a lot of Italian cooking he might want to reconsider.

mathanxiety · 06/02/2010 22:53

There are thousands of nicer names. Thousands.

wastingaway · 06/02/2010 22:54

It's a 'blah' name. Substanceless. Very effeminate too.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 06/02/2010 23:00

What breed of dog will your ds be?!

Ask your DH to think again.

MaryMungo · 06/02/2010 23:01

Makes me want to sing "I'm Bayleaf I'm the garrrr-dner I work from early morn"....

....but that's just me

mummyjackson · 06/02/2010 23:03

THANK YOU. This is brilliant. Can't wait to show him.. keep 'em cummin!
