Thoughts on the baby name Knowledge with a surname like Smith

Me and my partner really like the name "Knowledge" for a boy. I'm curious to see what other people think of this name choice.

Knowledge Jamie Smith (our last name is very similar to Smith)

Jamie is the middle name because his father's name is James.

I think it holds a warm and curious energy. What do you guys think?

I think Sagacious Smith flows better.

Knowledge Knows Nowt

Uhmmmm, no. What's the nickname going to be "ledgie"? Maybe Noah which would be a better choice of name.

Noah with spelling Knower!

Knowledge? That is not even a name. Is it?

Is this what is happening now, just plucking any old word and using it as a name for your baby?

What next, someone calling their baby Saucepan. 🙄

Why not? Also Stockpot or Frying Pan.

What an ignorant comment

Well I found the name on a baby name list site and yes it's been used as an actual name

Know which is very Noah adjacent

Would you or your partner been happy with a name like that? Some of the names parents chose, make me wonder if the parents would’ve liked the same name growing up.

OP, if you're trying to reply to individual comments, you need to copy and paste them into your post, or use the quote function, otherwise no-one can tell what you're responding to.

Bit of knowledge for you there Grin as you seemed ignorant of that (proper use of the word intended there, not an insult).

Yeah I just realized that, thank you. As you can see I'm new to this website is my first post

MurunBuchstansangursCousinRossiter · 14/06/2026 07:55

Know.

I think you should change your name to knowledge since you love it so much and call your child Jamie.

Okay the first part of your reply was really weird but the second part was a good idea. Definitely considering Jamie as the first name too.

Be honest, would you like to have the name Knowledge with the nickname Know?

Ask your partner if he would’ve liked that name!!

That's not short for knowledge, it should be "Noll".

Lots of words have been used as actual names. It doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Which is an actual name . There are men who have been called Noll or Nollie/y - but this has usually been derived from Oliver , Norbert or Nolberto.

I was just thinking Nollie wouldn't be the most stupid name ever. It's not the best either...

I hear you but I want you to know I am putting a lot of consideration into what I name my child. I'm not picking the first thing that pops into my head, so thank you. Like I said I ran the name by my partner with multiple middle name options and he loves it. Obviously we aren't locked into it as a final name yet but it's on the list. 💕

Tell that to the people who have literally already used it as a baby name.

The nickname Know will just sound like 'No'. This isn't something I'd want to saddle a child with to be honest.

If they aren't very academic or intellectual it would be quite an unfortunate name to have.

Ok. However in my long teaching career and very long life I've never come across one, so I can't actually do that.

Noll rhymes with doll.

But, cool, call him Noel.
