I love Anais, but people always pronounce it incorrectly (like people used to do with the perfume as well!). I also love Ines, and also I know a Tuula which I think is really pretty

Altair , her father was a merchant seaman and it was the name of the star he was under when he heard about her birth.

Dove for a girl. I just think it sounds so elegant and beautiful

My baby is Dove!

Cecily and Clover from "What Katy did?" When I read that book as a child I adored the name Elsie, for my favourite character. (These days I'd go with Katy instead, and I confess I think Elsie is the most sickly, wishy-washy name!)

I looove these.

Summatoruvva · 06/03/2026 23:36

Vivienne, Delphi or Aster for me. Wish I’d have been braver when naming my daughters

I'm not sure why, but I find Malachi a beautiful boys name. I have never met one although I know two Malik's.

Yeah the movie Children of the Corn Seriousky ruined the name Malachi for me!

dailydaffs · 06/03/2026 23:57

I love Persephone & Leda - if I was naming my DDs now (I am ancient) I would definitely go for these,

OneNewEagle · 07/03/2026 00:45

My name, my sisters name and my mums name have been mentioned. Also my sons middle name and my little cats name 🥰

Pinkissmart · 07/03/2026 00:54

I love Mayanne

wizzler · 07/03/2026 07:23

My gm was Rosannah. She had a really hard life, was born out of wedlock ( as they said in those days) , her mother was in service and paid for someone to adopt my Gm. All very Downton Abbey. My gm worked so hard all her life. She was known as Rose but I love that her full name seems glamorous and elegant and hopeful

DancingOctopus · 12/03/2026 17:53

I once met someone called Rosebud.
A beautiful name.
She wasn't very nice, which was a shame.

Woodbine also means honeysuckle, but seems to have fallen out of use even for the plant - wonder why? 😃
I can't see that one taking off as a name anytime soon...

Eglantine is a wild rose I think.

I've never met a Colomba. The closest I've known is somebody who had the portrait of Colomba, as seen on beer cans of the beverage bearing the same name - tattoo'ed on his arm.

He was sort of Marseille/Algerian though.

I wouldn't put her down as a role model, or 'beautiful on the inside'!

There’s a Saint Columba.

There is (male). But the Corsican Columba would be patron saint of toxic femininity.

keepmeright · 14/03/2026 13:13

Isla, Bonnie, Meadow, Effie are my favourite girls names. I don't love any boys names 😂

I heard the name Miriama once and I love it. But not Miriam. The first for me is ethereal but the second quite earthy and blunt. Which seems bizarre when the only difference is an 'a' on the end!

I feel like that about Ann and Anna - they conjure up completely different characters in my mind.

stample · 14/03/2026 13:24

Aurelia
Catriona
Delphine

deeahgwitch · 14/03/2026 20:54

I agree re Ann / Anne and Anna @DonttouchthatLarry
I love Anna but not Ann/Anne
Miriama is pretty.

Shopaholic100 · 03/04/2026 23:37

Recently heard the name Safeera which I really love. Sweet sounding and unique.
