Which unusual or old fashioned boy names would you use if you were given free rein and no negative judgement was allowed? (I’ll make another thread for girls names)

I love Tycho and Darwin.

What circles do you move in where those are "brave"?! Sebastian is only just outside the Top 100!

Darwin reminds me of wildthorberrys as a child (cartoon).

Maddox would of been my choice.

Probably not what you mean but I always loved Jesse and my DH vetoed it.

Me too! I would have loved to call my eldest ds Jesse but dh hated it and insisted it was a girls name.

Camelot, Merlin and Florian

goldenautumnleaves25 · 07/11/2025 20:30

I understand most of these, but Caspian, Sebastian and Tristan are really common here (as in several of each in year at primary school).
Florian and Magnus aren’t rare either

Zitroneneis · 07/11/2025 20:32

Many of the names mentioned are fairly normal here. We know little boys called Sebastian, Christopher, Quentin & Amos.

I quite like the suggestion of Valentin but agree that that would be potentially tricky for a boy in the UK
