Thoughts on the name Wybie?

we really like this name for our baby boy but everyone we have told in real life hates it and says he would be bullied as he grows older. But this generation of children has all sorts of names and I don’t think it’s a name that’s bully worthy?

People will ask where does his name originate from.. there are lots of other lovely names...

Sorry OP, I immediately hear a gangster in my head saying to his girlfriend ‘why b?’ (As in babe/baby) 😂. Probably just me though!

Wybie on earth would you do that to your own child?

Other kids will start calling him 'why were you born' once they see Coraline - it is cute though but maybe for a pet.

I like unusual names but Wybie isn’t great sounding to be honest.
If you like the sound at the end there are so many others to choose from ie Codie, Archie, Oli, Brodie, Alfie, Henry etc

even in coraline it's a nickname for the name Wyborn which coraline changes to 'why were you born'
as a name it's weird looking and weird sounding.

It is funny to see the trajectory of threads like this. People start off by expressing reasonable and moderate criticisms, but once it is clear that there is a consensus against the name the tone of the posts gets harsher and harsher, with a few 'This must be a troll/joke/reverse thread!' thrown in for good measure.

It's like some people on the thread (not all, obvs) scent blood and start trying to out-do one another with the extremity of their disapproval. Like wolves descending on a deer isolated from the herd.

My 8 yr old is Wyatt. I was worried about it being too out there (at the time I'd never met another Wyatt, I named him after a wrestler) and now I see loads of Wyatt's! 😂 Not sure I can see Wybie catching on like that though but you never know

This is like the house near me called Wy Wurrie. Every time I walk past I cringe. But calling your kid Wy Wurrie is better than this God awful name.

There have been a few threads lately with baby names where I think the ops are trolling, but I can sort of see that, without thinking of the movie etc, Wybie might sound an ok "unusual" name.

It's why unusual is never a good idea, but still ... I don't smell a troll on this one.

Sorry OP, but even if it was a proper name, which it isn't, there's no way on earth I'd name my baby anything inspired by a revolting, abusive piece of shit like NG.
