everly · 06/06/2025 22:51

As the title states, please choose which two you like best for twins.

Margot
Audrey
Sylvie

Just to clarify, I am not looking for any other name suggestions.

Thanks

Margot and Sylvie, beautiful! Audrey is nice too but I know some who get called “Ord”

Im guessing she's referring to the Penelope Keith characters.
I disagree that it's an issue though.

For a start they are both normal names that are not just associated with those tv shows unlike her examples and secondly, I doubt many people under the age of 25 will have even heard of those sitcoms!

I am 40 and have no idea what this Penelope Keith thing is

Penelope Keith played Margo in The Good Life in the mid 70s and Audrey in To the Manor Born in the early 80s (plus a special in 2007). Both massive hits that were repeated for years.

And she was a similar sort of character in both. Together the names suggest a “type.”’ But actually not in a bad way .

Margot and Audrey.

Margot and Audrey. To me Sylvie is terrible but probably because I am half French and noone has been called Sylvie in France for about 50 years as it is so old and frumpy.

It's not made a come back like Margot and don't think it ever will.

Spirallingdownwards · 13/06/2025 08:10

Sylvie and Margot because although many are saying Margot and Sylvie I kept seeing M&S.

The other 2 names are very much in a similar category here though but that doesn't matter if they are names the OP likes.

… or S and M!

I’m not sure that’s true. They were old lady-ish but there are lots coming through now. Margot so much so I’d say it’s almost overdone…

🤣 Perhaps it should be an Audrey combination after all.

marshmallowfinder · 13/06/2025 09:33

Margot and Audrey are hideous and frumpy. Margot looks like maggot too.

Sylvie is quite nice. How about Rosalind?

Fifthtimelucky · 13/06/2025 12:29

Margot and Sylvie have a similar vibe. Don’t like Audrey at all.

marshallzumarubble · 13/06/2025 22:09

They are all lovely but are all about to become incredibly popular - Margot is already huge in the preschool era (and the stats are looking much higher for 2024) and Audrey and Sylvie/Sylvia are growing massively and I'd expect to be the Ava/Elsie/Evie equivalent in the next five/ten years.

They are just at that 100 year stage which generally means a new explosion of them

EvilDJ · 13/06/2025 22:20

Margot and Sylvie sound glamorous. Audrey does not.

Audrey makes me think Hepburn - she was pretty glamorous!

Definitely makes me think of Audrey Hepburn.

5dollah · 16/06/2025 15:43

Margot and Sylvie. Audrey just reminds me of Coronation Street.
