Having a baby boy. Is Cosmo cool or too much? Our surname begins with a ā€œCā€ too.

I wanted our cat to be called Cosmo. DH vetoed it. Cat has Cosmo as a middle name.

CanIHaveALattePlease · 31/05/2025 14:15

I really love it. I’ve earmarked it for my next dog name as I won’t have any more children. It’s so cool.

ChocolateGanache · 31/05/2025 14:16

Love it!

ChocolateGanache · 31/05/2025 14:16

Just don’t give him a middle name starting with o

ChocolateGanache · 31/05/2025 14:17

Or a

ArtTheClownIsNotAMime · 31/05/2025 14:17

Absolutely not

ThatPeachSquid · 31/05/2025 14:17

@ArtTheClownIsNotAMime

why don’t you like it?

NicolaCasanova · 31/05/2025 14:24

I’m not a fan, it reminds me of the character in Bridget Jones or of a cocktail.

SomethingBlues · 31/05/2025 14:28

One of the loveliest men I’ve known was a Cosmo. He had Italian heritage and was so kind and generous to everyone. He passed a few years ago and is very much missed. So on that entirely irrelevant logic - yes to more Cosmo’s in the world 😁

Spottylittledog · 31/05/2025 14:43

Kramer?

Mandarinaduck · 31/05/2025 14:49

It sounds very posh to me.

loropianalover · 31/05/2025 14:50

I’m not sure if I’d use it with a ā€˜C’ surname, it sounds a bit gimmicky. Cosmo Cooper taking his show on the road!

CrackingOn50 · 31/05/2025 14:54

I'm biased because it's one of my sons' middle names. He's now 17 and thinks it's cool.

feelingbleh · 31/05/2025 14:55

No just no

bostonbabe5 · 31/05/2025 14:56

Reminds me of Dr Susan Lewis on ER who called her baby Cosmo.
Very cool....but what if you have a nerdy child??

LlynTegid · 31/05/2025 14:57

Just no. End of.

HugoYorway · 31/05/2025 15:04

Depends on the surname. Might sound a bit close to Cosmic.

SeaFloor · 31/05/2025 15:05

Makes me think of Cosmo Landesman, who used to be married to Julie Burchill. Journalist with more ego than self-knowledge. Wrote a weirdly creepy Spectator piece about his right to stare at women on public transport.

viktoria · 31/05/2025 15:47

I like it

Sunnyday321 · 31/05/2025 15:50

I know a Cosmo , he must be around 3 now . Will admit to not quite knowing if I liked it at the time , but he really suits it .

Viviennemary · 31/05/2025 15:55

It's daft. Ok for a Hollywood star or pop singer. Otherwise no.

cheapskatemum · 31/05/2025 16:02

I’ve always liked the name Cosmo. I’d say go for it.

Hatty65 · 31/05/2025 16:03

Can you afford to send little Cosmo to a private school?

Because round our way you'd get seriously bullied for being a posh git with a name like that in any of the state schools.

...or Cosmos.
