Sibling for Cassiopeia

BeBlueShaker · 06/04/2025 10:37

Already have a Cassiopeia Pearl who goes by Cassie, what would you name her sibling? (we don't know the gender yet)

I'm currently loving the nickname Queenie but am looking for a more formal name, so far have Quinn and Juno (which means queen)

Other names we have been considering:

  • Beauregard/Beaumont nickname Bowie
  • Nicodemus nickname Nico
  • Hugo
  • Roman
  • Kit (as a nickname)
  • Eden
  • Indigo
  • Gwendolen nickname gwennie

I think Queenie is a bit brassy.

Blimey! Had to comment as I have your child’s exact name and haven’t ever met another one. Also Cassie for short. I know a little Juno and think it’s gorgeous, Cassie and Juno go well together.

@Playmobil4Eva
I've had mixed responses on Queenie, however it's a family name which I would love to use, this is why I'm trying to find a more formal name as well

Quinn is quite American in my book and would be n alliteration with your other child. Juno is ok.
Your taste in names is not the same as mine at all so I don’t love anything that you’ve picked very much and think they’re mostly a bit pretentious. But it’s not my baby.
Nicodemus is terrible though - what’s wrong with Nicolas?
Hugo, Eden and kit are the best I think.
Please remember they will be adults one day. Is an adult Queenie what you want?
Also it’s had to pre-empt nicknames unless they’re very obvious like Cassie.

Obvnotthegolden · 06/04/2025 10:44

I've never heard Beauregard before, how is it pronounced?

Why bother with a formal name if you know you're going to use a nickname?

From your list I like Gwendolen but nn Gwen.

Boys: Caesar, Tybalt, Crispin

Well yes, but you can use Queenie as a nick name regardless of the actual name. That's what a nick name IS.

BeBlueShaker · 06/04/2025 10:47

@Obvnotthegolden
It's pronounced like bow-re-gard :)

I like that Cassiopeia has a long name with multiple nickname options! If we do go with the nickname Queenie she won't just go by this

Beauregard as in Violet Beauregard from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? That's a bit out there...

Victoria is the normal proper name for Queenie as it was popular in the 19th century.

Orion staying with the constellation theme, Pegasus?

Tbrh · 06/04/2025 11:53

I think Nicodemus goes well

yellowvase · 06/04/2025 12:01

I think you will need something equally classical, not very common and polysyllabic otherwise there will be a mismatch. It will be here is our daughter with the beautiful interesting name, and here is Derek the afterthought. It's harder with a boy though because male strong names tend to be shorter anyway like Hector.

Persephone
Andromeda
Cassandra
Christina

Alexander
Socrates
Andronicos
Hector

Carouselfish · 06/04/2025 12:08

Trent Reznor's wife is called Mariqueen. Not sure about its origins.
But Cassiopeia as a constellation, how about Andromeda with Andie or Delphina with Delphi?

Mumofgirls2017 · 06/04/2025 12:15

Love Juno. But prefer that to Queenie! Like Kit- short for Atticus? And Beaumont.
