18 weeks with a baby girl.
I adore the name Olive but our surname is Brown.
Olive Brown.
It’s a bit too Dulux colour chart isn’t it :(

Any other suggestions welcome! (Or change my mind and convince me Olive Brown isn’t ridiculous 😅)

What about Olivia?

PandyMoanyMum · 27/09/2024 20:17

I think Olive Brown sounds lovely.

AutumnTimeForCosy24 · 27/09/2024 20:18

No you can't do that to your daughter (congratulations!!)

millions of lovely names to choose from.

BananaSpanner · 27/09/2024 20:19

I wouldn’t.

girljulian · 27/09/2024 20:19

Olive is awful!

KezzaMucklowe · 27/09/2024 20:20

There's nothing wrong with Olive Brown

JC03745 · 27/09/2024 20:20

What about Olive or Olivia as a middle name? She may not always have Brown as a surname also.

LauderSyme · 27/09/2024 20:22

Olive Brown is a good, resonant name. If your surname was Green or Stone or Pitt or Long maybe not so much 😉

If you love it and you can't imagine dd being anyone but Olive, you must use the name.

DH isn’t sold on Olive anyway so it probably won’t happen but I can’t find another name I love as much

My daughter is Olivia and all her friends call her Olive. 😊

What about Olivia?

I do like it, I just think it’s a bit done to death, it’s everywhere!
Does leave potential for Olive as a NN though 👀

My great aunt was Olive Brown such a lovely lady

Sandwichgen · 27/09/2024 20:28

Eva and Brown might be a smidge too reminiscent of Eva Braun

Firsttimebabymummy · 27/09/2024 20:45

Olivia nn Olive

Tiredofthewhirring · 27/09/2024 20:46

Give her your surname instead?

Aww I love the name Olive Brown.

Newdaylucky · 27/09/2024 20:51

Olivia Brown is far, far better.

itsgettingweird · 27/09/2024 20:52

I know an Olivia who gets called Olive so that probably wouldn't work anyway.

How about Freya?

Although I don't see the issue with Olive (and live the name) with Brown as surname.

twomanyfrogsinabox · 27/09/2024 20:52

Add a middle name Olive Elizabeth Brown, or what name you like. I like Olive as a first name and Olive Brown is fine anyway

MissSkegness1951 · 27/09/2024 20:53

Olive Brown is a lovely name .

BertieBotts · 27/09/2024 20:53

Just don't buy her the book Amber Brown is Not a Crayon. (It is about a girl called Amber Brown who gets teased because people say her name sounds like a crayon).

Onlyonekenobe · 27/09/2024 20:54

Olive is basically a colour these days, so it would be a bit like calling your child Green Brown. Red White. Pink Black. Definitely other names to choose from!

Birchey · 27/09/2024 20:58

I don't see the problem. I know a Ruby Brown and have never thought of the two colours... till now 🤦‍♀️

What about Iris?
That's the first name that came to mind as another suggestion
