wis seems to be a common german problem...I mena the pronounciation of th....but I think I can manage it quite well....tbh, people that hear me speak tend towonder if I am either South African or from OZ or from the Netherlands....usually people can not believe that I am german, lol

3andnomore · 19/04/2008 17:58

oh, have been in the UK for like 13 years though!
My german friends always comment on the way I now speak german, lol....apparently I speak german, but with an english intonation...i.e. highlighting different parts of teh words as I speak, lol...

What does LMAO XD mean Makin Do?

Ila is Ila Grace Bowe but neither of them begin with C so not much use. Were going to have Mae (esp as she was born in May) as a middle name but therer are SO many Mae's around here...

kaballie · 19/04/2008 18:39

Were also going to miss out the Grace but initials would have been IBS and that's just mean.

NotABanana · 19/04/2008 18:44

Alias and Zebedee would be mean.

I have read KK said it wasn't after Max Clifford, though it has been quoted as such.

BubbaAndBump · 19/04/2008 18:45

laughing my arse off and then a big smile I tink

I teach German and rules are rules - not like our bastard beautiful language - 7 different pronunciations for the letter combination "ough"

I like May as a middle name - meant to give it or Maya to our DD (she was born in May) but forgot!! lol

Thanks TMMJ for your kind comments on my daughters name. It's spelt Ila as it is the Indian way of spelling it and she is part Indian. Found your post a little bit insensitive but I'll get over it. If you want to get a laugh, try doing it without insulting others and their children. Always much more satisfactory I find.

TMMJ - I would normally be the first to criticise odd spellings of names. But Ila is a legitimte Sanskrit name meaning Earth. If the OP has Indian connections then it would make sense to use the I-L-A spelling.
