Need the most unusual/out there boys names you can think of

Baby due Jan 2025. Already have a girl's name picked - don't want to say what as it's too outing if anyone knows me on here, it's an unusual rarely used name but lovely and everyone we've told really likes it and we are very happy with it.

We can't agree on a boy's name at all. I already have a DS (previous partner) with quite an unusual name but still in the top 100 but my DH definitely likes more "out there" names!
Give me your favourite unique boy names for inspiration please! We've looked at thousands of names on lists and just can't find one we like for a boy whatsoever. I know we have plenty of time (and might not even have a boy) but with my son I had his name picked before I was ever even pregnant so I'm struggling not knowing!

Hmm all the ones that are coming up for me are just names from other cultures so they’ll be popular there even if not here 😄

My friend’s kid has a kid called Logix in their school.

It’s hard because in the hunt for a unique name you’re just going to have to end up putting letters together and making up your own. Unless you go down the Graham, Clive, Paul route, there are no babies called those these days!

Clive
Or
Nigel

I can guarantee you they will be the only Nigel or Clive in their class at school.

I've met

Wilder
Xenon
Xerxes (a real name but a bit 'out there')

HettyCletter · 08/08/2024 14:05

Assuming you want recognised names rather than truly ‘out there’ suggestions like Velociraptor, Pineapple and Radiator…

Dorian
Gryffin
Rollo
Horatio
Justus
Phineas
Balthazar
Cadmus
Lysander
Byron
Uriah
Jeroboam
Inigo
Yannick

or, as others have said, choose something well known that’s fallen out of fashion, e.g. Roger, Kenneth, Barry, Derek, Keith, Desmond, Leslie.

Loads of school age Pauls and Simons (though not Clives 🤣) in Germany, so the other cultures/ countries has dad names covered to an extent too!

You could find "Out there" names by going back 1000 + years and having a look at the names of monarchs and anyone else documented from then...

Ethelred? (The unready 😜 maybe not ...)

There was once a pope Lucifer, it wasn't always a taboo name (I guess because Lucifer was once an archangel in the story?)

Do you have a super unusual 'out there" name? Just wondering if you have experience of how difficult it can be to live life with a weird name. The constant comments, misspellings, jokes. The awkward moment where you have to go into a room and introduce yourself as xx and see people's faces..
