Hi,
Just wanted to hear people's thoughts on the name Olive?

OP posts:

It's nice but have you considered Jimberly?

BathshebaEverdene1 · 30/04/2024 07:19

It's an improvement on " Olivia" anyway

Thecatisannoying · 30/04/2024 07:20

I think Olivia is much prettier to be honest: olive just doesn’t have a nice sound to me. There’s nothing wrong with it though!

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 30/04/2024 07:20

Ugly

2Old2Tango · 30/04/2024 07:21

I also prefer Olivia. I'm old and to me Olive will always be that woman from On The Buses.

bomi · 30/04/2024 07:21

Love it!!

IrisRuby · 30/04/2024 07:21

I like it I prefer the older names

MonkeyTennis34 · 30/04/2024 07:22

It's a lovely name but yes, the first thing that comes to mind is Olive from On the Buses.

neverknowinglyunreasonable · 30/04/2024 07:22

Hello, here is my beautiful little baby. Her name is Olive.

UGLY!

🙄

Moreteaandchocolate · 30/04/2024 07:25

I’m not too keen - I usually prefer shorter simpler names, but in this case I prefer the longer Olivia, even though it’s so overused. Olives are for salads or comedies / cartoons (on the buses / popeye)

FlameTulip · 30/04/2024 07:26

Love Olive.

SallyWD · 30/04/2024 07:27

I really love it

AcrobaticCardigan · 30/04/2024 07:27

I absolutely love it.

WaltzingWaters · 30/04/2024 07:29

Personally really not a fan. I don’t really know what it is about it but just doesn’t sound nice as a name to me. But I’ve met quite a few baby Olive’s since having my DS, so lots of people must like it.

pinkmags · 30/04/2024 07:29

🫒 is all I can think of when I hear olive 🫒

Blackcats7 · 30/04/2024 07:30

It was my mum’s middle name and I have always thought it horrible as did she but apparently it was popular back in 1933 when she was born. Certain names are very dating. My own (won’t say what it is obviously) was only popular in the fifties and sixties so on the very rare occasions I encounter someone with the same name I already know their approximate age.
Olive is still an improvement though on the place names as names and surnames as names though both of which seem to abound now.

MaryFuckingFerguson · 30/04/2024 07:31

I think it’s very ugly. Olivia is nicer.

GoodVibesHere · 30/04/2024 07:35

Olivia is so much prettier

ThePoshUns · 30/04/2024 07:38

Love it, more interesting than the ubiquitous Olivia

Velvetbee · 30/04/2024 07:41

I think it’s horrible, a flat sound. Lots of people love it though, don’t listen to me if you’re one of those, I wouldn’t be impolite to one.

MrMrsMoon · 30/04/2024 07:41

I like it! Don't be surprised if she ends up as Liv though, so make sure you're happy with that too.
I love all the old names coming back in 😊

BingoMarieHeeler · 30/04/2024 07:43

Really love it and don’t even think about Olivia when I hear it. Olive is totally different in sound, vibe etc.

Whycantiwinmillionsandsquillions · 30/04/2024 07:46

Personally I think it’s awful.
Its neither a ‘timeless classic’ nor ‘modern edgy’
Thats why you won’t know many 40 or 50 year old Olives because it’s not nice.

Whycantiwinmillionsandsquillions · 30/04/2024 07:47

Olivia is more popular for a reason.

Justcallmebebes · 30/04/2024 07:47

Same with me. First person I thought of
