Expecting twins boys on 23June. My husband is obsessed with matching names. I am more flexible but to be honest I'd rather not.

My favourites are
Sebastian and Dorian
Florian and Tristian

My husband's
Jayden and Jaylen
Nick and Nico

Sebastian and Nicholas (Seb and Nico)

Edward and Nicolas (Ed/Ted and Nick)

I think those are a bit humdrum for this creative husband.
Ooh, how about Hum and Drum?

Ok we get it. You have quirky humour.

I am desperate at this point I might let my husband decide. So if you meet 2 little boys named Poseidon and Zeus.

Seriously, please don't!

Does your husband realise the cute twin boys with matching names will eventually grow into full grown men and likely resent him for choosing ridiculous names?!

Sebastian is lovely, along the same lines I can think of :

Tobias
Alexander
Oliver
Matthew
Hugo
Rory
Daniel
Samuel
Benjamin

There are so many lovely names out there, don't let your husband burden your sons with ridiculous ones!

Indeed. However.
Your husband is certainly more quirky than me.

You'd be great friends.

Pinky and Perky?
nah sorry OP, the idea is chavvy, and binds the two together rather than letting them be two individuals in their own right.

Maireas · 20/06/2023 19:35

I actually like the sound of him, @Kiswahili . Anyone considering Martin and Luther for twin boys is great in my opinion. Shame it's not triplets, and you could have gone for King as well, but no matter.

Makes me think of Donald Duck's nephews - Huey, Dewey and Louie

Hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I think he's just excited to have 2 little boys that look the same.

The only names we agree on is Sebastian and Martin.

They may look the same but they are two separate people with their own personalities not dolls. My twins are absolutely identical apart from one has a slightly darker mole than the other they are so similar their names are the only thing they can say are different especially as everyone they meet treats them as one....having a parent who does would be awful like you couldn't be bothered to think of two names.

Dawn and Lucy
Thomas and Oliver
James and Robert
Felix and Kit
Edward and Sam
These are the twins I have taught fairly recently. Proper, non-matching names.

Dawn and Lucy's parents had the theme of 'light' for the names. Could you have a themed meaning rather than matching names?

Kit and Felix, with a little sister Imogen, shortened to Moggie?

(I did know sisters Katherine and Imogen who were known as Kitty and Moggie.)

Kiswahili · 20/06/2023 19:04

Well his reasoning is :

It would make them look unique while looking the same : How many Poseidons have you met?

I mean that's what he said to me lol

Does he really think they are toys?

Twazique · 20/06/2023 19:40

Sebastian and Nicholas!

Maybe your DH can have some fun with middle names...

DuchessOfSausage · 20/06/2023 19:40

Tweedledum and Tweedledee?

jannier · 20/06/2023 19:41

TurnipsMyArse · 20/06/2023 19:18

Your husband might also like:

Eric and Ernie
Ant and Dec
Simon and Garfunkel
Laurel and Hardy
Tom and Jerry
Mario and Luigi
Woody and Buzz
Fred and Barney

You missed Jed and wood

3isthemagicnumberrr · 20/06/2023 19:42

Your husband’s names are awful! I have twins and have lots of twin mum friends. Only know one set with matching names.

Katela18 · 20/06/2023 19:42

Personally I'd go Sebastian and Benjamin as I think Seb and Ben are nice!

But honestly all 3 of the combos you listed are lovely timeless names xx

SmirnoffIceIsNice · 20/06/2023 19:43

Jeez, imagine taking your kids to the park and calling them back to you "Poseidon! Poseidon darling, please come here". You'll certainly give other families something to laugh about!

Seriously though, from these suggestions I like all combinations. Nice, ordinary names...
Sebastian and Benjamin
Sebastian and Nicholas
Benjamin and Nicholas

DuchessOfSausage · 20/06/2023 19:44

Henry and Dyson

Kiswahili · 20/06/2023 19:47

I am glad everyone is having a laugh. Thanks to everyone who answered to not just make fun of me though.

So no matching outfits, no same initials,
any other faux-pas?

OP posts:
dontdillydallytoolong · 20/06/2023 19:49

As a twin absolutely not.

Windowcleaning · 20/06/2023 19:51

Speaking as a twin, Benjamin and Nicholas are perfect. Same number of letters, one syllable abbreviation of three letters, but completely different names.

ConfusedGin · 20/06/2023 19:53

If you introduced me to your sons Sebastian (Seb) and Nico, twins or not, I'd assume you were maybe F1 fans. So, in that sense, they sort of are a matching set but not as overt (or cruel) as some of the others.

Koalawhala · 20/06/2023 19:54

Sebastian and Tristan would be better I think. Seb and Tris are good nicknames too

Your husbands suggestions are not good!
