Please no chav.

No Blaze,Courtney-May, Minky-Rae etc.

My daughter already does not suit her name it is far to gentle for her even dh agrees (I am amazed by this) but I am flummoxed as to what we could call her instead as we had Nell, Annie, Constance and Dolly on our lists and neither of them fit either.

Any suggestions would be very welcomed, I really want to get the ball rolling sooner rather than later I think we have 5 weeks before we can't change it officially.

Disenchanted · 19/02/2008 10:45

pendulum · 19/02/2008 10:46

Katriona
Andrit

tilbatilba · 19/02/2008 10:49

I adore Storm. I have a friend who is 70 and another 21 and both suit this old name.
Also love Henrietta, Phoebe. Arabella, Victoria and Anna

peacelily · 19/02/2008 10:50

Love Roxie too, also like Lola and have jsut come accorss Lyra in a book of dds, quite pretty and unusual.

I don't think nell is too soft tho, it's a very strong sounding name.

Violet is great.

You can call her violent as a pet name

Now that I see she's 11 mths, I agree with others that it would be best if the shift were slight, so's not to confuse her.

So, you have the option of Lilith ..

  • you could also morph subtly into Lilian, which has a nice Edwardian-suffragette feel somehow; or slightly less subtly into Liberty (-> Libby) - which sounds like it might suit the personality, maybe?

("Liberty Rose" is rather good.)

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/02/2008 11:19

Tabitha

I know a Tabitha who is a feisty little thing, but she's also a pleasure to be with when she feels like it

I like the name Nell, it's a good strong name imo.

VanillaPumpkin · 19/02/2008 11:29

Violet / Vi / Lettie
Alexis / Lexie.
I love Lexie.
My dd has one of the names here and I had always thought I would shorten it but when I do she shouts at me that 'My name is x! not y!'. I think I left it too late lol.

EachPeachPearMum · 19/02/2008 11:35

Astrid is a good strong name... sounds good, though would depend on your surname...
and my dd is a feisty little girl!

it means divine beauty.

evenhope · 19/02/2008 12:13

I had a violent feisty rabbit called Trudy who used to kick and bite me when I fed her

Pannacotta · 19/02/2008 12:16

Martha

noddyholder · 19/02/2008 12:23

Fillyjonk · 19/02/2008 12:25

Iris is a LOVELY name

but

I think if she is 11 mo already, you probably shouldn't actually change her name.

When my kids were 11 months, they did know their names.

I'd change it to Lilith, that is definetely feisty.

belgo · 19/02/2008 12:38

Filly, I disagree, if they want to change their baby's name, they should do it now. I'm still wondering what your new baby's name is filly

I don't think Lilith is a particularly strong name.

VictorianSqualor · 19/02/2008 12:38

Noddy, am currently 33wks pg, no idea what sex and I did so badly want Roxie for ages, then East-flipping-enders decided Roxy Mitchell should make an entrance.

noddyholder · 19/02/2008 12:40

I don't know eastenders never watched it so I still love it!

MamaQuim · 19/02/2008 12:40

to me, Lilith conjures up an imagine of a slightly weak girl with watery eyes

sorry but it does!

Agree Martha is good n strong

MamaQuim · 19/02/2008 12:41

(...and what if she grows up to have a lisp? Lilith? I don't think so)
