I am just wondering. Since dd was born 4 weeks ago we have had lot's of people comment on her name. Both close family and friends.
Fair enough if it isn't what you would choose but i could never say to someone i don't like your choice after they have called their child that.
We have had plain ooh i don't like that to omg that's a name of a 90 year old woman.
Poor dp who chose it and now i am thinking poor dd !
By the way it's Martha!

Martha was my favourite name had DS been a girl. I love it.

And I'd never pass comment on other people's choice of names.

I would never comment(But i do like the name Martha)...its very rude of them, ignore them and enjoy her!!

The people who have commented are very rude imo! Martha is a lovely name (when i was going through an identity crisis as a teen i wanted to change my name to Martha, and no i am not 90!).

No never, how rude. I dont think it is an old name. Just asked dh and he said he really likes it. Congrats btw and please ignore them

ipanemagirl · 29/03/2008 22:14

That's a beautiful name.

Never ever ever ever say anything but "What a lovely name!" Even if it's an abominable name! I called my son an Old Testament name and had loads of sarcastic comments from some in my family saying all sorts of rude things, they just didn't like it but SHUT UP! It's so rude!

I've hated some of our friends' kids' names but you just don't say it do you? It's a total punch to the stomach of the new parent isn't it?

its incredibly rude to say you dont like a name chosen.....once the baby is here and named you are talking about a person not just a concept of a name

my grandma is called martha (she is almost 90) and i always loved it, saldy i now know 2 small marthas and had a boy...back to the drawing board for me for next time)
