Everest - too out there?

My partner and I met while attempting to climb Mount Everest.

Fast forward a few years and we are now expecting. We love the idea of having a name linked to where we met and have pretty much settled on a boys name but we are finding it hard to think of a girls name.

For a boy we are going for Everett Archer (Archer being my maiden name).

My husband suggested just going for Everest for a girl but I don’t know if it’s too (out there).

She would also have the middle name Archer. Everest Archer?

Any comments or suggests on related girls names?

Immediately made me think of paw patrol and of the name Ewaryst, which sounds similar.

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 01/01/2023 20:50

Hillary is the obvious one isn't it? As in Edmund.

HappyHogan · 01/01/2023 20:51

Paw patrol here too. Ice and snow we’re ready to go!

BedTaker · 01/01/2023 20:52

I don't like it. I'm not keen on Everett either, and I think if you are going to go with that theme you should just go Everest.

What about as middle name?

motleymop · 01/01/2023 20:52

I think it is a bit.

MattDamon · 01/01/2023 20:53

George Lucas named his daughter Everest. Evie for short would be nice.

IveHadEnoughNowFfs · 01/01/2023 20:53

Paw patrol 100%

barelyfunctional · 01/01/2023 20:53

I’ve met a middle aged man called Everest. I would like it as a name if it weren’t for the paw patrol connection

Whinge · 01/01/2023 20:53

My first thought was paw patrol and I don't even have children.

Perhaps you could use Eve?

Eatentoomanyroses · 01/01/2023 20:53

What if she’s tall and chubby? Imagine the kids calling her Mount Everest. I wouldn’t

randomusername666 · 01/01/2023 20:53

Tensing??

GoodbyeLondon · 01/01/2023 20:53

I think it would be a nice middle name. I'm sorry to say I also thought immediately of Paw Patrol. If this is your first you may not have had the um...pleasure yet

SaraAppleseed · 01/01/2023 20:53

Oh I didn’t know this! I love the idea of Evie for short- thanks.

I know of a little Everest but it is a boy...not sure if that helps?!

Fathercrossmas · 01/01/2023 20:54

Paw patrol

Yika · 01/01/2023 20:54

I like it! I actually prefer it for a boy rather than a girl. It’s nice to have a name with a meaningful story behind it, and that’s quite a story!

Nimbostratus100 · 01/01/2023 20:54

I think its lovely

DorisHatt · 01/01/2023 20:54

Surely 'Chomolungma' is a better name for a girl - and it means 'mother goddess of the world' so can't get better than that.

LaLuz7 · 01/01/2023 20:55

Everest as a baby name is simply stupid. Sorry.

Twoinapod · 01/01/2023 20:55

I like it. It has a lovely story for choosing it. I say go for it!

SaraAppleseed · 01/01/2023 20:55

No! I’m not a watcher of Paw Patrol but having googled I now see.

Twiglets1 · 01/01/2023 20:55

That’s an awful name, sorry.

WhatHappenedToYoyos · 01/01/2023 20:55

LOVE it but I assumed it was for a boy not a girl. However, saying that, I prefer "boy" names anyway like a girl called Ryan or Jaime so that probably explains more why I love it.

I'm a teacher and there are hundreds of Evie/Evelyn/Eve/Eva at the moment so if you're keen on a more unique name then steer clear of these. They are beautiful names but she would be one of many in the class with the same name, assuming you're in the UK/England.

Lulu2171 · 01/01/2023 20:56

Isn't Everest a well known double glazing company too?

Sorry OP, I think it'd be unkind.

SaraAppleseed · 01/01/2023 20:59

I thought so too. It’s unusual yes but it’s a conversation starter.
