What do you think?

OneTitWonder · 18/10/2022 03:13

I think you've misspelled Aloysius.

TheOnlyBeeInYourBonnet · 18/10/2022 03:14

😆

CucumberCool · 18/10/2022 03:15

Is it? Ah, well that's one thing to consider if using the name!

OP posts:
FictionalCharacter · 18/10/2022 03:17

Looks like a cross between Aloysius and atrocious!

BobbysGirly · 18/10/2022 03:20

Alowicious? This is not a serious thread is it? Please say it’s not 😵‍💫

CrispyNoodles · 18/10/2022 03:30

It's bonkers saddling a child with a name like that. Give your head a wobble, OP.

Aloysius is familiar to Catholic name seekers as the name of the saint who died treating those afflicted by a pandemic. 😷

GlassDeli · 18/10/2022 03:36
Biscuit
CucumberCool · 18/10/2022 03:44

I spelt it wrong (only gave it a really quick Google) I mean Aloysius.

Heard it on the radio, wondered what people thought of the name...

ShippingNews · 18/10/2022 03:48

If you can't spell it, don't saddle your child with it.

Breezycheesetrees · 18/10/2022 03:50

Sebastian's teddy bear.

Beachsidesunset · 18/10/2022 03:56

'Why, that's very nearly an armful!'

(Nobody will get that reference)

Ericaequites · 18/10/2022 04:03

Your son will spend his life spelling it for people, and having bureaucrats misspell it. It’s an aggravation for all involved. John is a nice name.

IamThegreaterMole · 18/10/2022 04:04

Well, deffo get the spelling right. But it really depends on whether or not you like Al or Ally, because realistically that’s what he will end up with unless he’s either done something wrong or collecting an award.

CucumberCool · 18/10/2022 04:10

Not pregnant, not thinking of actually naming my non existent baby Aloysius.
As I said, I heard it on the radio and wondered what others thought if the name.

I like it, as a sound. Practically, not an easy name. But if it became very popular it wouldn't be an issue.
I imagine people named Niamh or Siobhan still exist..

Just what I was going to say @Breezycheesetrees

Sebastian's teddy bear.

Of course! I recognised it from somewhere

minisoksmakehardwork · 18/10/2022 04:28

Ds1's middle name is Aloysius. Dh loves the name as it's a character in his favourite book series.

It's also the first name of the mammoth in Sesame Street and Parker in thunderbirds.

Dh wanted it as a first name but we came up with something else as we felt a lifetime of spelling and pronouncing his first name would drive us all nuts.

Yup. Nobody has heard of Hancock.

Anyway it's a terrible name. Imagine a poor child (even if they're imaginary!) learning to spell it!

Thank you for a moment of joy Googling up old Tone (Anthony Aloyious St John Hancock for those less elderly than myself).

‘Does Magna Carta mean nothing to you? Did she die in vain?’

BagpussBagpussOldFatFurryCatpuss · 18/10/2022 05:41
