Hello again mumsnetters!!

i don’t know if you remember but I made a thread a while ago about expecting baby number 3 and now we are expecting baby number 4

We already have Nirvana (Varnie), Jude and Nicks and we are looking for names to go with the music theme
we got a lot of hate last time for the theme of our children’s names but overall it was helpful on deciding baby nicks’ name (we also don’t know the gender yet!)

names we are considering this time:
Arabella (Ari) Arctic monkey association but also love the nickname Ari
Floyd
Florence (flossy) Florence and the machines and also a family name on my side of the family
Drummer (may be the top contender for a boy)
Lyric
Smiths
Leon
Oasis

I wanted to hate this, but I don't.
I'd go Floyd or Florence. Florence might be a bit mainstream but I really love Florence and the machine.

If you go for Ari a lot of people will think its referencing Ariana Grande, she calls herself Ari in her song lyrics, in case that is an issue for you.

Minskie24 · 15/10/2022 20:17

I would go Joni - as in Mitchell.

Jericha · 15/10/2022 20:30

So you had baby 3 and are now pregnant with no 4 within 4 months? How about Freddie, for faster than the speed of light?

silverclock222 · 15/10/2022 20:32

Ffs poor kids.

Dave

Guineapiggiesmalls · 15/10/2022 20:42

Floyd or Florence

please don’t call your child Smiths. Smith at a push, but not Smiths.

Zizou04 · 15/10/2022 20:42

Harmony?

Roxanne - the police

JaneJeffer · 15/10/2022 20:44

Definitely Floyd

Cocteau - after the twins
Thurston - sonic youth
Ride (or Ryde)

Pumpkinpatchlookinggood · 15/10/2022 20:46

Serge..
Everley.
Presley.
Jolene..
Tammy

Elsanore · 15/10/2022 20:49

Not Smiths and not Oasis. They don't work as names. The other suggestions do.

Joni is a great idea.

More music themed names.. with nicknames because you like nicknames clearly

Art (Garfunkel) Artie
Wolfgang (Mozart) Wolfie
Frieda (from Abba) Freddie
Frankie (Valli)
Jimi (Hendrix) I know a baby and also a gerbil called Jimi- great name
Nina (Simone)

2twotired · 15/10/2022 20:50

Leon or Floyd, calling a child drummer, oasis or smiths would be awful, poor child.

Smilelesstalkmore · 15/10/2022 20:51

You called your kid Nicks?

You do realise they have a lifetime of saying 'no it's Nicks not Nick' ahead of them?

toastedcat · 15/10/2022 20:54

I'm sure this is fictitious but just in case, I like Floyd. It was actually on my boy name list but I chickened out!

LynneBenfield · 15/10/2022 20:55

According to the OP’s June 2022 thread for baby3, the baby is actually called ‘Nixon’, nn ‘Nix’.

@Jericha the post I made about nicks’ name was a week before he was born. We are currently 9 weeks pregnant with baby number 4 (early to choose a name but we want to be prepared as there’s likely to be complications with this baby)
we found it hard to get pregnant after having nirvana and Jude and baby number 4 wasn’t planned but we are all very happy

Honestly just go for Hendrix if it's a boy- at least he won't stick out like a sore thumb then.

Zoomer122 · 15/10/2022 20:57

@LynneBenfield it was a autocorrect mistake that I later corrected

xyzzyx · 15/10/2022 20:57

Hendrix (jimi)
Lennon (John)
Rose
Ramone
Chorus
Jagger (mick)
Darrell ( pantera)
Blythe (lamb of god)
Lars (Fredrickson or ulrich)
Zeppelin

Zoomer122 · 15/10/2022 20:58

@xyzzyx I love the suggestion of Jagger!

Monty/Montgomery (the Clash)
Alice (Cooper)
Zephyr (Chilli Peppers)
Phoenix (Interrupters)

I actually love Floyd. Not so much for the band (I only really like Time) but more for the Pretty Boy Floyd association.

Whichwhatnow · 15/10/2022 21:00

Strummer sounds pretty good too actually if you're into the Clash

Kanaloa · 15/10/2022 21:01

I would choose Leon or Florence because they’re real names that won’t burden the child evermore.

Please don’t choose drummer or Oasis. They aren’t music inspired names, they’re just words associated with music. Like saying ‘oh we love floral themed names, so this is baby Garden-Centre and his twin sister Flowerpot.’
