Hello again mumsnetters!!

i don’t know if you remember but I made a thread a while ago about expecting baby number 3 and now we are expecting baby number 4

We already have Nirvana (Varnie), Jude and Nicks and we are looking for names to go with the music theme
we got a lot of hate last time for the theme of our children’s names but overall it was helpful on deciding baby nicks’ name (we also don’t know the gender yet!)

names we are considering this time:
Arabella (Ari) Arctic monkey association but also love the nickname Ari
Floyd
Florence (flossy) Florence and the machines and also a family name on my side of the family
Drummer (may be the top contender for a boy)
Lyric
Smiths
Leon
Oasis

Florence and Arabella are lovely. Floyd is fine.

Drummer makes me think of turkey drummers before music. Maybe cause I'm hungry.

Kaiser?

Happenchance · 15/10/2022 23:22

Jet
Gibson
Warwick (Dionne Warwick)
Dorian (Dorian mode)

Cadence
Abbie (Abbey Road)
Paige (Jimmy Page)
Eliza (Eliza Rose)

Notsofastquitefurious · 15/10/2022 23:33

Cornell (Chris)

Zizou04 · 15/10/2022 23:47

I love that some people don't like these kind of names but they've thrown themselves into it and tried to help brainstorm more. That's what it's all about!

Shame on the 'poor child' brigade. The world would be a boring place if we were all the same.

S25 · 16/10/2022 00:04

Zeppelin

I would choose Leon or Florence because they’re real names that won’t burden the child evermore.

Please don’t choose drummer or Oasis. They aren’t music inspired names, they’re just words associated with music. Like saying ‘oh we love floral themed names, so this is baby Garden-Centre and his twin sister Flowerpot.’

🤣🤣🤣 Garden Centre and Flowerpot!

These are all the real life kids names I know who were inspired by music: Melody, Lyric, Dixie, Harrison, Lennox, Lennon, Cash, Rudy, Zephyr, Marley, Ziggy, Hendrix, Sid, Ezra, Harper, Charlie, Nancy

Julia234 · 16/10/2022 01:36

Hendrix and melody?

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 16/10/2022 01:48

Definitely Moon Unit Meatloaf McCartney.

LondonQueen · 16/10/2022 01:48

I love those names!
Arabella is lovely and a perfect name for these siblings, as is Floyd or Flossy.

She had a massive stick up her arse from a young age. Preferred Pauline Black from The Selecter and Poly Styrene from X-Ray Spex who were fun. Although I did buy 'Christine'.

Christine
Pauline
Poly
Thompson (twins)
Sir Tom
Birdie
Macarena

Or Ari, after Ari Up

I am not recommending the name really, but Bowie is my cousin's grandsons name.

Ihavehadenoughalready · 16/10/2022 04:23

Sonata

Mazurka

Canon

Sarabande

Madrigal

Allegro or Allegra

Andante

These terms don't really "go" with the other names but they can't be any weirder than what you already did.

Creedence (Clearwater Revival)

Lynyrd (Skynryd)

Jefferson (Airplane/Starship)

Joplin (Janis or Scott)

Wyclef (Jean)

Marley (Bob)

Thelonious (Monk)

LynetteScavo · 16/10/2022 07:43

Not Oasis - you might as well go for Blur or Pulp and it just makes me thing of the drink.

I don't like Smiths. I'd really want to say "Oh, here's The Smiths" when they entered a room.

Kooks would be brilliant.
Pixies?
Joy? (Division)
Kurt?
Cobain?
Kings?

I personally prefer the older Music names like Elvis, Lennon, Marvin, Etta, Nina etc. I love the name Arabella. If it's twins you could go for Belle and Sebastian (yes I know they're named after a film)

AutumnCrow · 16/10/2022 08:16

If you’ve got a Varnie, how about a Valerie? Or Valentine?

Maireas · 16/10/2022 08:20

When was Nicks born?

Luxurysleuth007 · 16/10/2022 08:29

Turner
Jagger
Ringo
Osbourne
Kaiser

Zoomer122 · 16/10/2022 08:35

@Maireas bit of a odd question…..
i don’t want to disclose my child’s exact birthday or age

Medoca · 16/10/2022 08:40

Ari doesn’t work as a shortening or Arabella. What about Harry if you like the sound, after Debbie Harry. Or even Debbie for a girl. Not many Debbies around these days!!

I wouldn't expect that. At all.
You were searching for a name for (I'm now guessing) Nicks in June.
I was just curious as to the age gaps with your children.
Your choice. Not my business really.

urbanbuddha · 16/10/2022 08:51

I like Florence, Rudy, Starr and Ziggy. And Alice. She's in a lot of songs, is Alice.
