Hello again mumsnetters!!

i don’t know if you remember but I made a thread a while ago about expecting baby number 3 and now we are expecting baby number 4

We already have Nirvana (Varnie), Jude and Nicks and we are looking for names to go with the music theme
we got a lot of hate last time for the theme of our children’s names but overall it was helpful on deciding baby nicks’ name (we also don’t know the gender yet!)

names we are considering this time:
Arabella (Ari) Arctic monkey association but also love the nickname Ari
Floyd
Florence (flossy) Florence and the machines and also a family name on my side of the family
Drummer (may be the top contender for a boy)
Lyric
Smiths
Leon
Oasis

I have it....Hawkins

AutumnCrow · 16/10/2022 16:16

Jericho Hawkins Doodah has a ring to it.

Rhaenys · 16/10/2022 16:27

Floyd out of the ones you’ve listed goes best with the others I think. If you like Drummer I was going to suggest Strummer, I see someone has already mentioned it upthread.

AssignedSlytherinAtBirth · 16/10/2022 22:52

As long as you don't go for Bush (as in Kate) or Blockhead (as in Ian Dury).

Didn't this all start with Mrs Brown's Boys, and the grandson called Bono? That made me laugh at the time. Now I'm wondering if it's the norm.

I love that some people don't like these kind of names but they've thrown themselves into it and tried to help brainstorm more. That's what it's all about!

Shame on the 'poor child' brigade. The world would be a boring place if we were all the same.

Actually I think people were joining in on the obvious joke that it is to name kids such ridiculous names.

@maddiemookins16mum Names aren’t ridiculous just because you don’t like them.

Nirvana whilst very unusual is easily recognisable and easy to spell and is similar sounding to more popular names like Alana. Who’s to say that it won’t become more popular in the future? All names were unusual once.

Jude is in the top 50 most popular names right now and Nyx, which is pronounced the same as Nicks is the Greek goddess of the night.

CandyLeBonBon · 17/10/2022 21:07

I really like Jericho!

Dreikanter · 17/10/2022 23:08

Casbah. That’s a name to rock.

Yes, but Oasis, Drummer, and Smiths aren’t even names. Drummer isn’t going to become suddenly popular, because it’s awful. They’re not ridiculous because I don’t like them, I don’t like them because they’re ridiculous.

Hmmm, I’ll concede on Jude but Nirvana and Nicks ((however you want to spell it), come on really!!

As for the person who said I’ve probably got a boring name for mine, not really, it’s a pretty traditional female name, nothing ‘out there’ but certainly nothing that’ll cause her any issues in the future.

i don’t want to disclose my child’s exact birthday or age

Haha like having the 3 kid names you've already stated doesn't completely out you to anyone who has ever heard of you ever!! Grin

I would choose Leon or Florence because they’re real names that won’t burden the child evermore.

Please don’t choose drummer or Oasis. They aren’t music inspired names, they’re just words associated with music. Like saying ‘oh we love floral themed names, so this is baby Garden-Centre and his twin sister Flowerpot.’

😂at Garden Centre and Flowerpot!!!
