Madda-lin is about the closest I can spell it phonetically. Am from the north of England.

SapphosRock · 12/07/2022 20:08

Mad-uh-lin

From up north

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 12/07/2022 20:09

Maddalin - south east

sageandbasil · 12/07/2022 20:10

Maddalin South Wales

ohidoliketobe · 12/07/2022 20:10

Mad uh lin
Lancashire
That's the spelling I'd use

MolliciousIntent · 12/07/2022 20:10

Maddalin. Surrey.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 12/07/2022 20:10

Mad-a-lin
east midlands

Chocoqueen · 12/07/2022 20:10

Ma-de-lin (I think, I should have written this before looking at PP's answers so now I'm questioning myself...)

From the south east

Whichjobnow · 12/07/2022 20:11

Mad-eh-lin. I'm from Bristol.

If you want the Mad-eh-line pronunciation I'd spell it as Madeline.

17caterpillars1mouse · 12/07/2022 20:11

Madeleine is Mad-uh-len or Mad-uh-lyn

Madeline is Mad-uh-line

Based in the Midlands

I like both but prefer Madeline

Whichjobnow · 12/07/2022 20:12

Maybe more like Mad-uh-lin actually

Flossingisforteeth · 12/07/2022 20:12

Mad - err - lain

Hampshire

Greenandcabbagelooking · 12/07/2022 20:13

Mad-a-lin. London

whatausername · 12/07/2022 20:13

Those different spellings correspond to two different pronunciations so they're effectively different names (same root name of course). -Eine cannot be pronounced like -ine, it comes from French. Which spelling or pronunciation do you want? Pick whichever it is and then use the correct pairing.

KeyErro · 12/07/2022 20:13

Maddalin or Madlen
Lancs/Irish

Violetandpurple · 12/07/2022 20:13

Mad-uh-line is the pronunciation we like but if she’d forever get mad uh lin I feel like we should avoid it which would be a shame as it’s a very pretty name

Either Mad-lin or Mad-e-lin depending on how quickly I say it. From Scotland

Honeyroar · 12/07/2022 20:14

Mad-eh-lane. From the NW but most Madeleines I know were from when I lived in France.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 12/07/2022 20:15

Mad-eh-lehn

I'm from Ireland.

whiteroseredrose · 12/07/2022 20:15

Madda Lynn - NW England

Anxiernie · 12/07/2022 20:15

I would say Mad-uh-lin, but my brain really wants to say Mad-uh-lane

Anxiernie · 12/07/2022 20:16

StopStartStop · 12/07/2022 20:17

Wouldn't use it.
North of England. North West.

WildOnce · 12/07/2022 20:18

Ma-duh-lyn with the emphasis on the ‘ma’. From the South East of England.

TreePoser · 12/07/2022 20:18
