Husband's awful name suggestions!

My husband's absolutely set on several absolutely awful names! I'm trying to convince him otherwise, but MIL and even some of my family are on his side. Don't know gender.
Please tell me I'm not going crazy, these names are awful
Indy
Jolene
Cosmo
Estella
Trisha
Kiana
Aliesha
Chastity
I honestly fear a child named any of those would be absolutely bullied. Any advice?
Sexnotgender · 18/01/2022 13:50
They’re not the best 😂
blogbunny · 18/01/2022 13:51
They’re each as horrific as each other, other than Indy at a push, although that reminds me of the very annoying Joe Wicks. He has a daughter called Indy.
SalsaLove · 18/01/2022 13:52
Only Estella.
MrsEricBana · 18/01/2022 13:53
Well erm yes, def not Chastity or Trisha (unless you are Cher obvs)
MrsEricBana · 18/01/2022 13:54
Indy, Cosmo, Estella work for me though.
BHX3000 · 18/01/2022 13:55
Why are either side of the family involved?
Mankyfruitbowl · 18/01/2022 13:55
Chastity is awful. What a creepy message to send your daughter - you must remain chaste?! I'd be seriously worried if dh suggested that, it goes beyond "different tastes" and into the realm of different values. (Am I reading too much into this? I don't think so)
miltonj · 18/01/2022 13:57
Love Estella. Some of the others not to my taste but not as bad as you're making out. Apart from Trisha and chastity of course.
ShadowPuppets · 18/01/2022 13:57
I know a seven year old India who is Indy as a nickname, she’s lovely. Estella is ok at a push.
Jolene is the Dolly Parton song, Cosmo is a boy’s name, Trisha is the 90s ITV daytime presenter & her show. Chastity is 100% the worst, I can’t believe anyone would use that (and I’m not against virtue names at all but really?!) Kiana looks made up and Aliesha misspelled (Alicia, Alesha maybe, but that spelling..)
annaj83 · 18/01/2022 13:58
@Mankyfruitbowl
I agree it's quite possibly the worst of them all. I don't think that was the intent though I think he likes the name, and it was his great aunt's name as well
DotDotDotDotDot · 18/01/2022 14:04
Yes I’m not keen on any of those suggestions. Cosmo is usually a boys name. Estella is ok but it does bring beer to mind.
Will baby be having his surname? I wouldn’t agree to any name I wasn’t completely happy with if I were you. I also wouldn’t be involving in-laws for sure. What sort of names do you like?
stingofthebutterfly · 18/01/2022 14:08
Estella is beautiful.
ParentTime · 18/01/2022 14:09
Jolene is nice :)
ParentTime · 18/01/2022 14:10
@stingofthebutterfly
I agree

We're a very close-knit family and MIL is currently living with us. I'm feeling outnumbered here. Nobody seem to like my names, which are simpler
(Nell, Jane, May, Diana for a girl and Jack, Charlie, Will for a boy)
TrufflesAndToast · 18/01/2022 14:11
Yikes I thought my DH had questionable taste in names…those are truly horrific! They’re not even a consistent type, the only thing they have in common is being horrendous!
Good luck OP
Carole05 · 18/01/2022 14:11
I think Estella is a lovely name for a daughter. What about it don’t you like? We could find some names that are similar and workshop from there?
And besides, if the baby is a boy, most of his suggestions are a moot point anyway 🙃
mathanxiety · 18/01/2022 14:11
They're all dire
Estella is the best of them but it looks like a mashup of Estelle and Stella, both of which I prefer.
TrufflesAndToast · 18/01/2022 14:12
Sorry I can’t stop chuckling at the image of introducing baby Trish to the group at rhyme time
thelittlestrhino · 18/01/2022 14:12
I’ve known a couple of lovely girls called Kianna 🙂
CurtainTroubles · 18/01/2022 14:14
Withdrawn at the user's request

My husbands granny was called Fanny, doesn’t mean we considered it as a name for our daughter 😂
DramaAlpaca · 18/01/2022 14:15
I like Estella, but the rest...
bigbluebus · 18/01/2022 14:16
I'm with you OP. I wouldn't choose any of those. Estella just made me think of lager! India shortened to Indy would be OK but there are much better names to choose.

Stella would be ok, but Estella sounds like the name of a grandma. Brings Great Expectations to mind
