My friend hates my baby name

Me and OH have agreed on a name for our daughter that we both love. I told one of my friends our choice and she said it’s ridiculous for me to pick a “plain boys name” for a girl. We aren’t changing our minds, and we are very set on this name for our baby. I just hope if people don’t like the name and are rude about it when she’s here, it will grow on them the more they think about it. Should I be worried?

Your friend is rude. Fuck her. Don't tell anyone else the name till she is here. People are much less rude when faced with the actual baby.

IglesiasPiggl · 23/10/2021 15:46

This is why you never reveal the name before the birth. Who cares what she thinks? She would no way have said that once your baby had arrived.

snowspider · 23/10/2021 15:46

It's better to wait until the baby arrives before telling people the name, except on here of course. So what is it?

ApocalypseNowt · 23/10/2021 15:46

Go on...tell us the name....

Monsterpumpkins · 23/10/2021 15:47

Well is it a boy's name?
Precisely why you don't announce the name pre birth!! My bff wasn't keen on ds's name but she liked plain names and knew I didn't!! Kept the name and bff loved him anyway!!

SummerHouse · 23/10/2021 15:47

We had a name ruined for a girl. Three people hated it, one even begging us not to use it!! We had a boy so problem solved.

Milkteefs · 23/10/2021 15:47

That's really rude of her but she thinks she is doing you a favour if it really is a bit of an unusual name for a girl. Would you share the name with us?? X

ExPatHereForAChat · 23/10/2021 15:48

James or Stevie, fine. Kevin or Greg, not so much.
Obviously your name choice is your name choice but it will be easier for your DC if its something socially acceptable.
Presumably your friend's response comes from a good place.

rainbowstardrops · 23/10/2021 15:49

It's really rude but I suppose it depends how 'whacky' it would be for a girl?

MaverickDanger · 23/10/2021 15:49

To be fair if you’ve picked something like James for a girl, I’d secretly think you were a bit wannabe celeb/up yourself, but I wouldn’t say it out loud!

Zippy1510 · 23/10/2021 15:50

I was also going to guess James!

Queenoftheashes · 23/10/2021 15:50

Is it Ian?

HazelandChacha · 23/10/2021 15:51

Your friend is a terrible friend. So rude.

I’d say keep the name to yourself so no one can ruin it for you, don’t post it on here. People on MN may be more rude than your friend!

Yogawankonobi · 23/10/2021 15:52

Is it Simon?

2reefsin30knots · 23/10/2021 15:53

I think James too.

ApocalypseNowt · 23/10/2021 15:54

Nigel. Please let it be Nigel.

Reagan37 · 23/10/2021 15:54

The name is a name that can be used for both genders, but comes across as more of a girls name (in my opinion), and I always thought it was a girl’s name. It’s pretty unusual, and a soft name, but it’s not anything super masculine.

CocaColaTruck1 · 23/10/2021 15:55

You have to tell us the name

SummerHouse · 23/10/2021 15:55

Gosh I love James or Jamie for a girl or a boy. It's lovely. Dave, not so much.

MrsSchadenfreude · 23/10/2021 15:56

Aubrey.

SummerHouse · 23/10/2021 15:56

Darcy?

Reagan37 · 23/10/2021 15:56

The name is Brynn (pronounced as brin)

OP posts:
SummerHouse · 23/10/2021 15:58

Don't tell anyone op, have we taught you nothing!! Grin

SummerHouse · 23/10/2021 15:59

I think it's lovely. I also like Brooke.

TheWitchwithNoName · 23/10/2021 15:59

It’s lovely OP, ignore her
