Is the name Roy dated and sounded cute?

We are expecting a DS anytime now and I am having second thoughts on the name, Roy.

DH really likes the name but I am just worried that this name is dated and sounded cute?

I prefer Ray over Roy but I think that Roy fits the current trend for "grandad" names

It's my dads name, and although I don't think it's awful, I couldn't imagine calling a baby it.

All I can think of is Roy cropper from coronation street. To me it's quite dated and I wouldn't be naming my baby that. Sorry

I'd dispute that it's not old enough to make a comeback, my Grandad was Roy, and he was born in 1888 ! I don't know how long it was around before that date but that makes it about 140 years old at the very least.
