My absolute favourite name for a girl is Story. Absolutely love, love, love it. I just know I could never use it in the first name spot for obvious reasons. I was just wondering if anyone else has a favourite name they’ll never use?

Thorfin. Love it.

Isolde, Persephone, Calypso, Hera, Regan, Demelza, Loveday - too influenced by books!

willowtree81 · 28/04/2021 22:56

@NameChangedForThisFeb21 that made me laugh!

@scrivette we have used one of your names, an Indigo, though she gets called all sorts of nicknames! I love the name but do feel a bit self conscious using it sometimes if I'm honest Sad

Mine would be Cassius, Phoenix and Silas. Again, maybe not bizarre exactly..

@Changedname81

Quite a few but all girls - I guess they are fairly whimsical

Story
Fable
Posy
Ever
Sailor
Bay
Tigerlily

My daughters middle name is Bay. Love it!

I love Aurelie, Linnet, Taliesin, Merlyn, Meryton, Clea, Iolanthe... though regretfully they are probably all a bit too romantic/flowery/unusual for me to actually use them!

PassMeTheWotsits · 29/04/2021 21:40

@LoveFall

I am strangely drawn to the name Mehetable. It was the name of one of my long-ago ancestors, a member of the groups of early America settlers in the Massachusetts area of the US.

It means gift from God.

How is this pronounced? I can only say it like vegetable, but starting with an M

My absolute favourite name is bronagh comes from the irish word bron meaning sad. It's a beautiful name but the meaning puts me off actually giving it to a child.

Scubalubs87 · 29/04/2021 22:20

I like Dove and Birdie for girls but would never use them. I've always loved Atticus but there's no way I could have used it where I lived without people thinking you were a bit of a nob.

thiswaythat · 29/04/2021 22:33

*adds Tesni to my baby name list

A woman I follow on instagram has a daughter called Story. Mine is Morticia Grin
Dnadoon · 29/04/2021 22:39

Ginger. Wasn't brave enough to use for my red haired baby girl Sad

PferdeMerde · 29/04/2021 22:43

I think the name “Santa” is cute for a girl. Father Christmas ruined it for everyone. Bastard.

Numnumcookie · 29/04/2021 22:46

I love the name Lemony (the little girl in Captain Corelli'a Mandolin) but DP vetoed it and pretty sure my family would also make un welcomed comments.

They've just about accepted my sons name which is also a little unusual - famous and well known but not common. Someone actually mentioned it up thread but spelt differently Smile.

It’s “Limoni” - it means “Lemon” in Greek.

I once knew a family from southern Africa (can't remember which country exactly) where the children were called Good Luck, Sweet Child (girls) and Happy Day (boy). Ever since then I've loved that style of naming.

ThankYouHunkyJesus · 30/04/2021 08:29

Aren't story, maybe and dove just words though? They're not names.

Numnumcookie · 30/04/2021 10:53

Yes you're right, Limoni. Sorry I misspelled the end with a a y and my phone keeps autocorrecting to an e for some reason Confused.

BertieBotts · 30/04/2021 11:09

There's a Story at my childrens' nursery. I always think it's a nice name. The only one I heard of.
