My absolute favourite name for a girl is Story. Absolutely love, love, love it. I just know I could never use it in the first name spot for obvious reasons. I was just wondering if anyone else has a favourite name they’ll never use?

Hepzibah - love this name, but virtually everyone else cringes!

Ditto - Kizzy, Kezia or Keziah

Or Annunziata

The letter 'Z' would appear to be a common denominator!

Annunciata

I’m loving all these names Grin I just wish I had the guts to use them!

I’ve seen Nova mentioned here, I met a elderly lady called Nova a few months back and she was fabulous. Really made me consider the name, I’m just always concerned about being judged but that’s just a reflection on me really.

I like Sage and Holland for girls names.
Probably just as well I had boys.

propertealady · 01/05/2021 02:48

I have an Edgar :) We get lots of compliments on it. He is sometimes Eddie.

Ruthietuthie · 01/05/2021 03:22

ThankYouHunkyJesus · 01/05/2021 07:31

Hades? As in the god of the dead?

Wavymess · 01/05/2021 11:21

@ThankYouHunkyJesus

Hades? As in the god of the dead?
Yes Blush I wouldn’t, because logically I know it’s stupid, but I do really like it if it wasn’t the name of the god of the dead it’d be a nice name right?!
FiveGs · 01/05/2021 11:54

St John (I like the proper pronounciation but would that happen?)
Hester (would not go with my alliterative surname)
Lupus (medical condition but could imagine a nice name for a boy Shock)

PattyPan · 01/05/2021 13:19

@CaffiSaliMali

Trystan (spelled intentionally wrong)

Trystan isn't wrong - Tristan is an anglicised spelling of the Welsh/Brythonic name Trystan.

In the legend it says he is called Tristan from ‘triste’ because he had such a sad start in life.

I love Aélis and Hildegard for girls (can you tell I did medieval studies!). Also Zinnia and Linnea.

neilmomareglas · 01/05/2021 13:21

Tatiana

Chunkymenrock · 01/05/2021 13:27

Fawn and Ptolemy.

LadyWhistledown · 01/05/2021 13:31

December or Hebe for a girl. Hebe especially but it doesn't work at all with our surname so I had to choose something else when DD was born.

Orion or Fievel for a boy. Had to give up on Fievel when making a potential baby name list as DH cannot stop himself from adding 'Mousekewitz' on the end every single time.

notagainmummy · 01/05/2021 14:01

I am watching 'raised by Wolves' on Sky and i adore Campion and Tempeste

tenredthings · 01/05/2021 18:05

I love the name Judas !

Cam2020 · 01/05/2021 19:30

Some of my favourites:
Dorcas
Caliban
Wednesday
Atticus
Bronte
Apollo
Hades
Naby

Its not the sounds of the names themselves that are bad, it's the association.

I mean, Dorcus. To a 90s kid like me, tge association is dork! And Caliban!! A, monstrous slave. I had the same proem with Regan - like the sound but will always be associated with an 'ugly sister' gauging someone's eyes out or The Exorcist.

IIN16 · 02/05/2021 07:22

I love Renoir for a boy, but yes wouldn't ever use it!

LibbyL92 · 02/05/2021 07:44

Astrid
Wolf
Wilder
Wednesday
Theodora
River
Penelope

longsigh · 02/05/2021 07:59

I love Calico, I would never use it but think it's cute!
