Is Jaxson (jax) too much like jack we like the name but have a nephew called jack we don't know if it's to similar?

OP posts:

I do take your point, but what’s being expressed here is how people will react to the name IRL, so it is useful the OP to know (since they asked) - they have the power to use it if they want.[/quote]
OP is as bad for asking.

Grown adults on a forum making disgusting comments based on a name.

tazzy73 · 13/03/2021 13:59

It's not a name I would choose. It's more the spelling for me.

Jax is the slang word for toilet in Ireland.

KirstenBlest · 13/03/2021 14:21

@RootyT00t, she said the name was downmarket.

We judge people on their names, whether we like it or not.

Jack is neutral and doesn't get judged, Jackson will get judget a bit because it's a surname. Jaxson will definitely get judged.

The people doing the judging will be people like teachers, friends, friends ' parents, employers and so on.

I'm a teacher and I'd be bloody appalled if any of my colleagues expressed s view like that

KirstenBlest · 13/03/2021 14:32

It doesn't mean they are not thinking it.

Generally, people will have an idea of what someone will be like from their name. Jaxson doesn't give a good impression.

I know enough teachers to know what they think about names.

We are not a species.
KirstenBlest · 13/03/2021 14:37

No, you're a profession. I am basing my generalisation on my many friends and relatives who are teachers.

PollyGray · 13/03/2021 14:40

It's a ridiculous name. All such names are just so 'try hard' and MN is awash with it.

MazekeenSmith · 13/03/2021 14:42

Jackson is nice enough. Putting an X in it is horrible.

VintageStitchers · 13/03/2021 14:46

Lol at the snobs being anti any name with an X in it. 🤣

I’ve only known one Jaxson, but he was American so I think it’s more commonly spelt without the S as Jaxon.

It’s nothing like Jack (a very common name) so no reason not to go for it.

KirstenBlest · 13/03/2021 14:51

I don't think Jackson is try hard, just a bit american-sounding.

Jaxon and Jaxson look try hard.

I don't believe those who say they don't judge on names. If they don't, they must be totally immune to marketing.
Someone's name is their brand.

alexdgr8 · 13/03/2021 14:56

NO.

NeedanIdea · 13/03/2021 15:09

If you really must then it's got to be Jackson not Jaxson! If you use an x why would you add the s? It would be Jaxon, which is equally horrible imo. Like a PP said it's a bit chavvy though.

katy1213 · 13/03/2021 15:14

@cescanicole Yes, one of those feral kids from a notorious family who will be making teachers' hearts sink as they rise through the school. 'You'nique for nothing in life but getting into trouble and his stupid name.
If this isn't your demographic, don't do it to him!

superram · 13/03/2021 15:19

Not at all similar, jack is a proper name spelt correctly, jaxson is not. Don’t do it.

Kendodd · 13/03/2021 15:19

Jaxson/Jaxon is terrible.
Jackson is lovely.

Kiehl · 13/03/2021 15:20

KirstenBlest please don't speak for teachers.

Teacher here....I can safely say there are enough little s**ts called Edward, Harry and Charlotte and they tend to be the worst kids because of their hideous, snotty parents who think they're the bees knees and so classy and always demanding.
I've taught kids with names containing a 'J' or and 'X' who are absolutely lovely with lovely, down to earth, grateful parents.

lockdownbreakdown · 13/03/2021 15:45

How about Saxon? I knew a really cool surfy kid with blonde curls called Saxon. It's not ten a penny and fits the surname vibe that you like.

Allthatyouhave · 13/03/2021 15:55

Our dog is called Jax. Sons of Anarchy fans here. We're quite chavvy if I'm honest. 🤷‍♀️

I love this, you're the first person I've seen on here to admit to being a bit chavvy. Good on you! Wine

StellaDendrite · 13/03/2021 18:42

I don't get the dog name hate. Two of my kids are named after dogs. One was my aunties dog and one the neighbours. 😅

KirstenBlest · 13/03/2021 19:55

@Kiehl, I'm not speaking for teachers.

Having said that, some of the teachers have said things about names - they knew a lot of children, 30 odd new ones each year, or many more than that if secondary age teachers.

People will judge a name. Just look at what's happened to 'Karen'.

Lalliella · 13/03/2021 22:44

Please don’t.

Fedupmiddleagedwoman · 13/03/2021 22:49

Hard to think of a more chavvy name. It’s dreadful

MeMeMeYou · 13/03/2021 23:09

No that spelling is awful. Jackson or jack
