Is Jaxson (jax) too much like jack we like the name but have a nephew called jack we don't know if it's to similar?

I can't stand threads like this.

You are just inviting snobs.

Call your child what you like.

changingnames786 · 12/03/2021 19:20

It's Jackson spelt wrong.

RootyT00t · 12/03/2021 19:20

@changingnames786

It's Jackson spelt wrong.
Spelled differently.
Okbussitout · 12/03/2021 19:21

@TwilightSkies

By ‘chavvy’ do you mean working-class?
Probably that is what was meant. But honestly with the massive class prejudice we have in this country I wouldn't want to sadle a child with something which people could potentially see as working class or chavvy or whatever.
SirSamuelVimes · 12/03/2021 19:21

It's god awful, is what it is. Don't do it.

SirSamuelVimes · 12/03/2021 19:23

@TwilightSkies

By ‘chavvy’ do you mean working-class?
Nope. Working class does not equal chav.
KirstenBlest · 12/03/2021 19:23

Jackson is not good.
The responses you get on here on Jaxon and Jaxson are going to be what RL people will think.

Jacksy/Jaxi/Jaxsy as a nn? Grin

GintyMcGinty · 12/03/2021 19:23

Jack is great.

Jaxon and all its variants are awful. Sorry.

Cissyandflora · 12/03/2021 19:23

I’ve got to agree with everyone above. It’s awful. Jackson is bad but Jaxson is taking it to another depth. Sorry.

Carolina24 · 12/03/2021 19:23

Jaxson looks like you don’t know how to spell.

ChiantiFffffff · 12/03/2021 19:24

No, it's awful.

If you absolutely insist then spell it Jackson. Which is still pretty terrible.

Jack is lovely. Jackson is a surname. Jaxson is even worse.

I really hate all of these surname first names that have come into fashion. Harrison is the worst.

Feel free to pile on and tell me I'm wrong, I don't care. They're naff and sound shit.

butterpuffed · 12/03/2021 19:24

It would be a bit like naming a girl Gennifer Confused

4Mongrels · 12/03/2021 19:24

I don’t associate ‘chavvy’ with working class.

Sarcobaleno · 12/03/2021 19:24

It's not a good name. And he'd spend his life correcting the spelling.

Snooks1971 · 12/03/2021 19:26

Sorry but it reads like klaxon.

CoffeeRunner · 12/03/2021 19:26

Jaxon I would pronounce Jackson.

Jaxson I would pronounce Jack’s son. There’s a double s sound in there.

Jackson is better.

JoyOrbison · 12/03/2021 19:28

This remi ds me of being on the maternity ward with dc. In the bed opposite was a couple with their beautiful baby. Lots of phone calls to tell families the good news of the baby arriving safely. All I could hear, over and over again on each phone call... "We're calling her Maddison...... No, it's, just one d and one s so we don't have to explain to people how to spell it". 5 minutes later We're calling her Maddison...... No, it's, just one d and one s so we don't have to explain to people how to spell it" and again We're calling her Maddison...... No, it's, just one d and one s so we don't have to explain to people how to spell it". Just spell it Maddison as then you won't have to explain to people how to spell it!! 😂

I did have a lot of gas and air and very little sleep.

Montysauras · 12/03/2021 19:29

My son is called Jaxson, no regrets here! We loved the name Jax and didn’t want Jackson to be shortened to Jack

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 12/03/2021 19:29

My dog's best friend is called Jaxson - he is daft as a brush, just like her!!
He might shorten it to jack as he grows up - would that be a problem?

Navigationcentral · 12/03/2021 19:29

Your problem isn’t whether it’s too similar to Jack.

Your problem is the hideous X in Jackson. It will tarnish your poor child’s name in a way which will instantaneously -rightly or wrongly - draw sneers from people, to whom - rightly or wrongly- it will come across as a Younique name.

Montysauras · 12/03/2021 19:30

Ps hope my lovely son never has to meet any of you ladies Grin and I’m not chavvy at all!

Topseyt · 12/03/2021 19:32

Horrendous. Don't.

It looks like a misspelling of Jackson. Jackson is a surname.

partyatthepalace · 12/03/2021 19:34

Nooooooo

Jackson nn Jack is grand, so is John or Jonathan nn Jack, but not Jaxon. It has a really really down market vibe and it will do him no favours in life.

Alternatives - Jacob/Jake, Joseph/Joe - or Josiah/Jonah/Jonas nn Jo/e, Joel, Jude, Jesse, Jethro...

Montysauras · 12/03/2021 19:34

Although I do prefer Jaxon, my husband insisted on the ‘s’

cptartapp · 12/03/2021 19:34

I see a lot of babies and their families in my job.
Steer well clear of this name.
