Is Jaxson (jax) too much like jack we like the name but have a nephew called jack we don't know if it's to similar?

My bro and sister in law called their kid jakson so not only is the poor kid saddled with an awful name,he’s going to spend his life saying ‘Jackson but without the c’
If my daughter had been a boy she would have been a jack
They bragged for ages about how they ‘stole’ my name
I pissed on their chips by saying that not only was my baby a girl, but I wasn’t aware people could copyright names
it’s awful no matter how it’s spelt

EwwSprouts · 12/03/2021 20:32

Yes it's too close to Jack.
Yes it's too trying to be un1qUe.

florascotia2 · 12/03/2021 20:57

OP The reason why people are querying the spelling is that because, in English, the letter 'x' makes the sound 'ks'. As in 'klaxon'.

The extra 's' in Jaxson makes the sound 'Jacksson'. So there is either a hiss in the middle of the name, or a pause to say 'Jacks' 'son'. Is that what you are after?

You mean like ANY other name with a double letter?
Figgygal · 12/03/2021 20:59

Please don’t it’s bloody awful

tiredmum2468 · 12/03/2021 21:04

Sorry not a
Fan of surnames as first names at all especially with weird spellings

notmethenwho · 12/03/2021 21:38

Just adding to the chorus of nos here.

I know a Jaxxson who is a delightful boy but omgoodness what a shame for him

lockdownbreakdown · 12/03/2021 21:43

If you like that sort of name how about Jenson or Harrison, or possibly Sullivan? If your nephew Jack then Jackson would be too similar regardless of how is spelt.

RosemarysCat · 12/03/2021 21:45

As someone with a quirky/fashionable/uniquely spelled name that I consider to be embarrassing and dated, please do don't do it. Remember your child will have to actually live with it.

Damn the 80s and my relatively young mum. I'd love to have a boring classic name.

Those are just as bad.
Sarcobaleno · 12/03/2021 21:47

@RosemarysCat they're really not. Jaxson is a different level of bad.

Itsokthanks · 12/03/2021 21:48

Awful. If you like Jackson just spell it properly.

scentedgeranium · 12/03/2021 21:54

Are you having a laugh?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 12/03/2021 22:54

Its not the worse name in the world, but I certainly don't like it. You need to consider though that he might want to go by Jack when he's older. With having a nephew Jack would that bother you.
Not to disrespectful but its either Jaxon or Jackson not a combination of both pick one.

lunarlife · 12/03/2021 23:00

No.
It is a name that will bring judgement and it won't be positive.

EiffelPower · 12/03/2021 23:01

Silly!

Susie477 · 12/03/2021 23:05

Jackson is fine.

Jaxson is definitely ‘the opposite of posh’, I’m afraid.

LuluJakey1 · 12/03/2021 23:05

Horrible name. Makes you seem unintelligent choosing it.

LeviAckerman · 12/03/2021 23:14

Jackson looks and sounds nice but Jaxson looks ugly. I didn’t know Jaxson was even a way to spell the name, I assumes it was a typo.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 13/03/2021 00:11

Jaxson will get constantly misspelt as Jackson and anyway, yes it is too close to Jack. Jake is less linked to Jack, but sounds quite similar so could be a possibility for you? Especially if you put Jacob on the BC (or even Jacobsen if you really love the surname as given name thing).

MimiDaisy11 · 13/03/2021 00:16

I really think Jaxon or any similar variation is going to be voted the worst name for this generation. I don't mean to sound snobby but it's really down market.

Firebird83 · 13/03/2021 00:34

Jackson is fine but the Jaxson spelling is awful.

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 13/03/2021 01:56

Too close to your nephews name .

RootyT00t · 13/03/2021 11:05

You do sound snobby.

A child is down market? Nice.
