Is Jaxson (jax) too much like jack we like the name but have a nephew called jack we don't know if it's to similar?

OP posts:

It's a no from me I'm afraid

Not keen on Jackson or Jaxon but certainly Jaxson

sorryforswearing · 12/03/2021 19:35

It’s horrible however it’s spelled but if you have to spell it Jackson. It’s definitely one of ‘those’ names. Sorry.

RootyT00t · 12/03/2021 19:35

Some ridiculous posts here.

MrsKeats · 12/03/2021 19:36

Please don't use that name. It's dreadful.

partyatthepalace · 12/03/2021 19:36

@butterpuffed

It would be a bit like naming a girl Gennifer Confused
God, Gennifer Flowers, remember her?!
Squirrelly1 · 12/03/2021 19:40

@ineedaholidaynow

Is that how you spell it?

I've only seen it Jaxon and that is for a dog

Ditto, it’s a dogs name.
RootyT00t · 12/03/2021 19:41

@cptartapp

I see a lot of babies and their families in my job. Steer well clear of this name.
Do your bosses know you slag off names of your clients on forums?
WilsonMilson · 12/03/2021 19:41

Awful, chavtastic in the extreme. Jackson is bad, but Jaxson is beyond the pale.

StellaDendrite · 12/03/2021 19:45

It’s not my favourite but I’m a believer that you should call your kids whatever you like as long as it’s not ridiculous. I’d prefer Jackson.

What about Jetson, I’m not a fan myself but it seems popular.

Sarcobaleno · 12/03/2021 19:46

@JoyOrbison

This remi ds me of being on the maternity ward with dc. In the bed opposite was a couple with their beautiful baby. Lots of phone calls to tell families the good news of the baby arriving safely. All I could hear, over and over again on each phone call... "We're calling her Maddison...... No, it's, just one d and one s so we don't have to explain to people how to spell it". 5 minutes later We're calling her Maddison...... No, it's, just one d and one s so we don't have to explain to people how to spell it" and again We're calling her Maddison...... No, it's, just one d and one s so we don't have to explain to people how to spell it". Just spell it Maddison as then you won't have to explain to people how to spell it!! 😂

I did have a lot of gas and air and very little sleep.

I always thought Madison was spelt with one D but I get your point I think.

Speaking as someone with an unnecessary, shitty letter in the middle of their name, please don't do this to your child. They have to live with people spelling and pronouncing it.

If you like random letters add some to your own name. Jackson is fine, unless there is a cultural reason to spell it differently then don't, you can still call him Jax as a NN.

I don't mean to sound so horrible, but I've hated the random spelling of my name my whole life.

aloeha · 12/03/2021 19:50

I think it is too close to Jack.

drumandthebass · 12/03/2021 19:51

Another vote for don't do it. Jackson isn't a good name but spelling it Jaxon just makes it worse

JoyOrbison · 12/03/2021 19:51

Sarcobaleno

The spelling could be either really, but it seemed the couple had disregarded a version that was known locally to make things easier but by the time they were well into double numbers on phone calls and having the same conversation I did think "I don't think this is going to save your daughter explaining how to spell it when older"!

Op if want an x name what about Max or longer versions of that?

avocadotofu · 12/03/2021 19:54

I'm another one who thinks it's a really difficult spelling of Jackson. He will constantly have to explain how to spell his name! I don't really like Jackson that much but it's better than your spelling I'm afraid.

CaptainMyCaptain · 12/03/2021 19:56

@Shodan

No. Not Jaxson.

Jackson if you really want, but not Jaxson.

This.
hedgehogger1 · 12/03/2021 19:58

It makes you look illiterate. Don't do it

partyatthepalace · 12/03/2021 20:02

@RootyT00t

I do take your point, but what’s being expressed here is how people will react to the name IRL, so it is useful the OP to know (since they asked) - they have the power to use it if they want.

AnnaCondom · 12/03/2021 20:05

Noooo. Agree with the posters who say to give him a proper name and then a daft nickname, if you must.

1forAll74 · 12/03/2021 20:08

Not really a good name. It sounds like an American type name, or someone called Jack who wanted a name change when he wanted a stage name, when he has visions of being a pop singer.

Newchances · 12/03/2021 20:09

You do you!

sHREDDIES19 · 12/03/2021 20:09

Try and imagine your son as an adult; it’s just a really unfortunate, awkward spelling and constantly having to explain the spelling will grate. I’m personally not keen on Jackson but it’s a massive step up from the alternative spelling you have suggested. Sorry! IRL I do think most people will think it’s weird.

Mrstwiddle · 12/03/2021 20:16

It’s very chavvy. I know someone who used it for their son, they seemed to think it’s pronounced differently to “Jackson” but I don’t see it myself, and that’s almost as bad anyway. Like someone else mentioned, it’s the “x” that makes it look even worse.

BilboBercow · 12/03/2021 20:17

Sons of Anarchy fan op?

Lulu1919 · 12/03/2021 20:18

No
