I know a billion David's and Michaels but no children if that name

Similarly only one child Christopher despite every other friend of mine being married to a chris.

I went to school with many Kirstys and Michelle, none now.

You also dont get Katie much...

Anoisagusaris · 12/01/2021 00:24

Not in the UK but I know plenty of primary school kids with names listed eg Sarah, Emma, Michael, David, Andrew, Katie, Jane, Amy.

Popular names from when I was a kid that I don’t know of any now are:

Michelle
Karen
Stuart
Sinead
Siobhan
Paul
Terry
Stephen
Deirdre
Anne
Caroline
Fiona
Ruth

Lizzie

You never hear it anymore because they’re all called Liz or Elizabeth now. There were several Lizzie’s in my year at school.

RosesAndHellebores · 12/01/2021 07:28

Other names of my era that are rarely heard now:

Beverley
Lorraine
Kim
Amanda
Linda
Lisa
Diane/a
Tracey (such a pretty name actually)
Sharon
Michelle

Boys were: Mark, John, Anthony, Nick, Simon, Ian, Julian, Jeremy, David, Stephen, Martin, Phil, Mike/Mickey, Robert and then Gary, Shaun (eek), Darren, Kevin.

It's interesting how the generations change.

Claire, Laura, Nicola with Louise as a middle name.
Lots of boys called Chris, Matt and Mark.

Lots of my friends now seem to be married to blokes called Darren - can’t see that coming back.

Ohalrightthen · 12/01/2021 08:13

I'm an early 90s baby - when we did our leavers celebrations/yearbook etc, we worked out that 34% of the yeargroup were called Hannah/Georgia(ina)/Isabel(bella)(variations of same) and that 46% of us had either Rose or Louise as a middle name!
