The other day I read about a girl called Nerys and it was the first time I saw this name thought it was so beautiful.

I also worked with children and one was called Keziah, I just remember writing it down because I thought it was so pretty.

Has anyone else got any names that when they heard them for the first time they made a note to remember them?

@msssm

I really love the Irish name Grainne. Such a beautiful sound and I think it's a feminine yet strong sounding name.
sorry, just makes me think of a silo.

Isolde (pronounced Iz -ol - da). I've only ever met the one, but she was a very cool, highly intelligent girl - the name stopped me in my tracks as a young teenager (as back then I'd never heard the story of Tristan and Isolde, so the name seemed very exotic).

Nobody likes my baby girls name but I nearly lost her and the night she was born there was only one shining brightly so you guessed it my baby girl is called STARR, it means a lot to me and it definitely suits her

This is the first time my real name has ever been described as beautiful!
Thank you.

Names I love - Beatrice, Eilish, Estrella, Nula, Amber, Ezra, Rufus
Names I not so love - Angela, Rochelle, any daft perfume name (it's not cute, it's stupid), Kenneth, Keith, Nigel

@ILovemyCatsSoSoMuch

Damaris
The lovely girl I sat next to at high school in English was called Damaris. She used to introduce herself by saying “hi my name is damaris it’s Greek for cow...”

Twins named Crystal and Palace 🤦🏽‍♀️

Come across a lot of weird and wonderful names in my job but they were the ones that left me speechless.

mandarinpink · 04/12/2020 00:40

Caedmon. A baby boy to a very academic mum.
Heaven-Leigh. A work colleagues daughter.
Julie. Born a year ago. Seemed quite odd at the time but suits this pretty, dainty little girl beautifully.

@Wendyhaus

Nerys is nice in my opinion. The only Nerys I am familiar with is the actress Nerys Hughes and I think it is a Welsh name.

Being stopped in my tracks over a baby name happened just last week. A distant relative has announced the birth of their baby and it seems it is named after the place it was conceived. Not Paris or Rio or Brooklyn or anything like that but I think it is awful. Sorry can't divulge it here.

Not another Blackpool-Rose??

I once met a baby called Beowulf. To be fair it was in a sandpit in Islington.

Winston Churchill, he was in his 70s. The whole gp surgery stopped and looked at him when his name was called. Poor block must have had this reaction all his life.

biwinoone · 04/12/2020 01:01

I have. Pareshay (fairy), Noor ( light), and I so wish I have a son whom I can name 'noshairwan' as I absolutely love love the name. Although I doubt my husband will agree to it.

89redballoons · 04/12/2020 01:08

@Ele38 She is beautiful!

I knew a Star once. She was absolutely lovely and was training to be a lawyer - I believe she is one now.
