The other day I read about a girl called Nerys and it was the first time I saw this name thought it was so beautiful.

I also worked with children and one was called Keziah, I just remember writing it down because I thought it was so pretty.

Has anyone else got any names that when they heard them for the first time they made a note to remember them?

Negan. As in the baddie from The Walking Dead who bludgeons people to death with his barbed wire covered baseball bat.

Django
Thali (our local pub used to have a thali night once per week). To me it’s like naming your child Plate, or Buffet.

There is a Selma in my daughters class, I really like that name. And an Ophelia, although that's getting more common now.

Zillah, I discovered it when I was researching the family tree. She was a great great Aunt form Northern Ireland. It just struck me as beautiful and unusual. If my baby days weren't behind me I would use it although the nickname Godzilla migh tbe a worry.

Ariadne - beautiful name from Greek mythology, and also a great character from Agatha Christie's Poirot novels. Not sure I'd be brave enough to use it!

When I was a teenager nearly 40 years ago - twins called Phaedra and Petra.

The recent revival, since Downton Abbey, of the name Cora. It is my sister's name, was my mother's name and my grandmother's name. I'd never come across another Cora until Downton.

and I once heard a woman in the park call: Jade, Amber and Ruby. I really hope they weren't sisters - otherwise they made a marvellous set of traffic lights.

And a boy called Merlin.
