Please please say I can have Clementine

Hi MNers

A few years ago I posted asking whether I should name my baby Clementine. The answers were a resounding no.
I'm now back again, because I clearly can't take a hint.
So...our surname is Harrowdyne. Can I use Clementine (ending 'tyne' ) or am I once again deluding myself?
Feel free to hand me a grip if I need it.
Thanks!!

I love Clementine.
If I had a baby daughter today( apart from being the oldest mother in existence) I would call her that. Nothing and nobody would stop me.
Clementine Harrodine sounds good to me.

Clementine is a beautiful name, go for it!

Oh so many good responses! I'm feeling that rise of optimism. I love you all at this point. Even you naysayers.

I like it! She sounds like a Thomas Hardy character. She could be a close friend and confidante of Fancy Day.

IdentifyasTired · 29/06/2020 19:40

RedLemon I love Hardy. And I love that you put Clementine Harrodine into that. Sigh...

Use it. The full name is a mouthful but so what. And Clem Harrowdyne is an excellent stand out name

cinnamonbun · 29/06/2020 19:53

Another yes vote here, what a brilliant name!

IdentifyasTired · 29/06/2020 19:53

@icedaisy I thought this too! Definitely a lovely book character somewhere. I actually really like it too. I think do it!

bearlyactive · 29/06/2020 19:55

She'll probably get called Clem or Clemmie anyway, so go for it!

goingoverground · 29/06/2020 19:57

How do you feel about Clementina (Cle-men-tee-na)? Clementina Harrodine sounds elegant.

Blursula · 29/06/2020 19:58

As someone who desperately loves a name and can’t let go of it despite it going terribly with my surname, you have my full support! I actually think it sounds pretty lovely!

lardass88 · 29/06/2020 19:58

Clementine is my fav girls name! I think it sounds awesome with your surname. Go for it!

theotherfossilsister · 29/06/2020 20:01

What about Cordelia? That would sound lovely with Harrowdyne.

Cooltalkin · 29/06/2020 20:03

Love it !
She sounds like a heroine from history
You will regret it if you don’t use it
Go for it

ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 29/06/2020 20:04

I think it sounds cute and sort of sing song, go for the name you love.

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 29/06/2020 20:04

Could you possibly give her your maiden name as her surname instead?

LateMumma · 29/06/2020 20:05

I absolutely love it! Clementine is beautiful and even more so with your surname

BikeRunSki · 29/06/2020 20:07

OP, I went to school with someone called Ronnie Rennie, which just shows that you can call your child whatever you want.
