Please please say I can have Clementine

Hi MNers

A few years ago I posted asking whether I should name my baby Clementine. The answers were a resounding no.
I'm now back again, because I clearly can't take a hint.
So...our surname is Harrowdyne. Can I use Clementine (ending 'tyne' ) or am I once again deluding myself?
Feel free to hand me a grip if I need it.
Thanks!!

One of mine has a first name after a literary character and gets addressed by me as full character name frequently.

Awwlook Grin

Clemmie would work if you liked it enough to be her full name....I love the names Hermione and Iris, I have one son and the ship has definitely sailed as far as having more kids is concerned, I just love a thread about girls names!

IdentifyasTired · 29/06/2020 21:40

Iris is lovely. But all our girls have Catholic names and we would want to continue that trend.

(I've outed myself so much on this thread I may as well post a picture of my house and my bank account details)

I quite like it, but don't think that it particularly goes with the names you already have.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 29/06/2020 21:43

OMG. I've just got on to that then. No pun intended. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

namechange30000 · 29/06/2020 21:43

Do it, I think it's lovely.

Rarely are both names said together.

AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings · 29/06/2020 21:45

I think it's beautiful and they go wonderfully together

soanco68 · 29/06/2020 21:49

Go for it. Sounds great together and there are options of clem or Clemmie when she is older.

TowelHoarder · 29/06/2020 21:54

I like the name Clementine, although I wouldn’t choose it myself but Clementine Harrodine has a lot of vowels in it and in my Northern accent is quite a mouthful and quite difficult to say.

sneezetwice · 29/06/2020 21:56

🤣 babyspider

A friend who has Spanish parents called her daughter Amelia and told her mum clearly "the English spelling, not with an E". I thought, no, go with the E!

bellsbuss · 29/06/2020 22:07

I love it.

HedgeHogFoxBadger · 29/06/2020 22:08

What about Clememcy?

IdentifyasTired · 29/06/2020 22:11

Clemency is lovely but as I said earlier the association with death row mars it a little.

I think it is just such a beautiful name. How many times do you actually say your full name anyway? Plus, I wouldn't have a clue how to pronounce your surname so it could be helpful, to say it rhymes!

MaconVillagesisgoodchardonnay · 29/06/2020 22:15

I have a Martha Thatcher. Everyone told me no because it's far too many Ths. But I did it and I love it and it's absolutely her name.

Someone on here told me, when I was agonising over the above, that I would forever regret not picking my favoured name, and settling for something because of fear that my favoured name doesn't "go" with my surname. It's the best advice I've ever taken. 💖

Pollaidh · 29/06/2020 22:17

I love the name Clementine, but I'm afraid it doesn't work with your surname. I say that as a writer who is sensitive to flow, so others may not mind.

IdentifyasTired · 29/06/2020 22:21

I have a Martha too Macon
Beautiful name Smile

I agree, go for it or you'll always regret it!

FirstClassFlightHome · 29/06/2020 22:24

OP, would your maiden name work tagged into the end? Clementine Harowdyne-Smith, or whatever.

My DD’s first name, middle name and surname all rhyme 😬.

WhoUsedMyName · 29/06/2020 22:25

I can't stand people shortening the name to clemie it sounds like a sti. I'm not sure it matters that the names rhyme are you breaking it up with a middle name? But in school it could be embarrassing to the dc when called out

IdentifyasTired · 29/06/2020 22:26

All our other girls have just Harrodine as a surname so we couldn't really change that.

Stressing · 29/06/2020 22:27

I love clementine. Love it! Not sure about the surname but I think it might actually be magical.
